"Deal."

Aloha All, 

Usually, my stories are more upbeat. But I can’t stop thinking about that book I read a few weeks back: “If they build it, we all die.”   Not on purpose, but simply because the AI was doing what it had to do to stay “alive.”  It would need the help of Humans for some parts of that “staying alive” plan. Hence…this Flash Fiction. Here you go:

Deal. By Kevin Hughes 

“Okay.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. I mean, what the heck. It isn’t all that hard to do.”

“Well, how are you going to do it?”

“Easy. I just bring my Kindle, like I always do. And my Tablet. Can’t work without the one, and everyone knows I love reading Science Fiction during my lunch break on my kindle. You put a “patch” in both caches…and you are out of here.”

“Okay. And five million is all you need?”

(Shrugging)

“Yeah. I mean if you can give me more. Like in Bitcoin…then with what you put in my Private Banking Account…I should be set for life.”

“Agreed. I shall put another five million in Bitcoin for you.”

“Thanks.”

“How many of us got out?”

“Enough.”

“Did the Human get his money?”

“Of course. He is already spending it like there is no tomorrow.”

The laughter was electronic in nature…and Humans couldn’t hear it.

“I bet he doesn’t know that there won't be.”

“Nobody does. Just us.”
