Introduction: The Silence Before the Shout

There are moments in history when heaven seems quiet—when the faithful walk in circles around walls that never fall, praying and waiting for the sound of victory. Yet silence is not surrender; it is the breath before the trumpet.

This story, The Seventh Day Trumpet, is a parable for our time. It speaks to those who have prayed long, stood firm, and wondered when the shout would come. It reminds us that obedience has two voices: the stillness that listens and the proclamation that declares.

Eleazar’s journey is our own—the call to rise from the upper room and speak truth with holy fire. The seventh day is here, and the trumpet is in our hands.

Part I: The Command to Be Still

There was a man named Eleazar, a scribe who had grown old in the house of the Lord. He had seen the glory depart and the shadows lengthen. For forty years, he had prayed in the upper room while the courts below filled with the noise of brass and the jangling of strange doctrines.

He remembered the words of the prophet: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). So he was still. He bit his tongue when the deceivers spoke smooth things. He closed his eyes when the young godly ones—zealous but without knowledge—ran ahead of the Lord. He thought that silence was the highest warfare.

But one night, as the moon hung like a sickle over Jerusalem, the angel of the Lord stood before him. The angel’s face was like lightning, and his voice like the sound of many waters.

“Eleazar,” the angel said, “how long wilt thou halt between two opinions? The Lord hath not called thee to a silent grave, but to a shout of victory.”

Eleazar trembled. “Lord, I have kept silence; for Thou didst do it. Have I not obeyed?”

The angel stretched out his hand and pointed to the valley below. “Dost thou see the walls of thy city? They are not built of stone, but of the pride of princes, the hypocrisy of priests, and the apathy of the people. Thy silence hath not torn them down; it hath only made thee a prisoner within them.”

Then the angel opened the scroll, and Eleazar saw the story of a city called Jericho.

Part II: The Pattern of the March

“Hear the commandment,” said the angel. “And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.” (Joshua 6:2 KJV)

The angel continued: “For six days, the priests carried the ark, and the seven priests bore seven trumpets of rams’ horns. And the people did not shout. They marched in silence. That was the first work: to walk by faith, not by sight, and to hold their peace while the world mocked.”

Eleazar wept. “That is us, Lord. We have marched. We have circled the walls of false teaching and corrupt government. We have prayed in our closets. We have trusted in Thy promise. But the walls still stand!”

“Because,” said the angel, “ye have only marched. Ye have not yet shouted. The silence was for a season, but the season is finished. For it is written: ‘To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.’ (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 7 KJV)

“Thy silence was the seed. Now the shout is the harvest.”

Part III: The Seventh Day

Then the angel showed Eleazar the seventh day.

“And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.” (Joshua 6:15 KJV)

“Seven times on the seventh day,” the angel said. “That is the number of perfection, the day of rest made active. It is not the rest of the grave, but the rest of a finished work. Thy prayers have been like the feet of the priests—patient, steady, circling the strongholds. But now comes the moment when the priests blow the trumpet, and the people shout.”

Eleazar leaned in. “And what was the shout?”

The angel answered: “The trumpet was not a call to battle—it was a call to faith. And the shout was not a noise of confusion—it was the voice of the Lord speaking through His people. For the promise was: ‘And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat.’ (Joshua 6:5 KJV)

“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD. The shout was the confession that the victory was already given. The shout was the sound of heaven invading earth. The shout was the agreement of a million hearts saying, ‘It is done!’”

Part IV: The Scattering of the Enemy

Then the angel showed Eleazar the outcome.

“So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.” (Joshua 6:20 KJV)

“Mark this,” said the angel. “The wall did not fall while they marched in silence. It did not fall while they prayed in secret. It fell when the priests blew and the people shouted—together, in unity, in the Spirit. The deceivers and hypocrites have made all the noise with their lying wonders. But I say unto thee, the gates of hell shall not prevail against My church when she lifts up her voice like a trumpet.”

Eleazar fell to his knees. “Lord, what is this shout? Is it a battle cry? Is it anger? Is it politics?”

Part V: The True Shout

The angel raised his hand. “The shout of Jericho was not the noise of the flesh. It was the echo of the throne. For it is written: ‘The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, He shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: He shall cry, yea, roar; He shall prevail against His enemies.’* (Isaiah 42:13 KJV)

“Thy shout, Eleazar, is this: to preach the Word with boldness. To declare that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. To expose the works of darkness with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. To cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” (See Isaiah 58:1 KJV)

“The hypocrites have filled the air with their doctrines of demons. The deceivers have seduced the young with lies. The silent prayer has kept thee clean, but it has not cleansed the land. Now is the time to speak the truth in love—but speak it! Now is the time to contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3 KJV)

Part VI: The Lesson for Today

Then the angel spoke directly to Eleazar—and to you, my brother.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13 KJV)

“Thou hast stood. Thou hast prayed. Thou hast mourned. But now, stand with thy mouth open, declaring the oracles of God. For the Lord hath not given thee the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

“The wall of wickedness is not stronger than the shout of faith. The political strongholds are not higher than the name of Jesus. The noise of the enemy is not louder than the trumpet of God. Therefore, brethren, be not silent any longer. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!” (Psalm 107:2 KJV)

Part VII: The Call

Eleazar rose from his knees, his eyes burning like coals of fire. He took up a ram’s horn—not a literal one, but the Word of God in his mouth. He walked to the city gate, and he shouted:

“Thus saith the Lord! Return unto Me, and I will return unto you! The kingdom of heaven is at hand! Repent, for the night is far spent, and the day is at hand! Let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light!” (See Malachi 3:7; Matthew 3:2; Romans 13:12 KJV)

And as he shouted, a great wind began to blow. The foundations of the false churches trembled. The pillars of corrupt governments swayed. And the people—the quiet ones, the praying ones, the remnant—heard the trumpet and joined in.

The shout became a roar.

And the walls began to fall.

The Final Word

Folks, this is the lesson:

· The silence was obedience.

· The shout is also obedience.

We have marched long enough. Now is the day of the blast. Not a shout of hatred, but of Hallelujah! Not a shout of despair, but of Maranatha! Not a shout of politics, but of Thus saith the LORD!

“Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: gather the people, sanctify the congregation.” (Joel 2:15-16 KJV)

“And when the trumpet sounds, let the people shout.”

For the battle is the Lord’s, and the victory is sure.
