Lucky, my cat, my companion, my friend

Lucky, my cat, my companion, my friend

Lucky was not a mystical cat, but she saved my life.

We found her as a stray on December 18, 1998.
So she was an early Christmas gift for the whole family.

We all fell in love with her from the start. She quickly acclimated to us and became a member of the family.

That’s not to say she didn’t get into mischief. She took love to my blonde-haired, Porcelain dolls. She bit  and pulled the hair off  these dolls. I had to get rid of a few and found other places for the rest of my collection.

She was the most affectionate of all the Cats, we have ever had. She would nuzzle my nose so hard that sometimes she would send me into a sneezing fit. I did not have an allergy but she was such a fluffy cat and left her hair everywhere.
I loved petting her. Her fur was as soft as a rabbit. She would even twitch her nose like a curious bunny.

We had her front paws declawed (yes I now know this is not recommended for any cats). But she would use her front paws to knead my daughter(on her boobs) and me on my neck.

She would also purr loudly when she did this. For me she calmed my anxiety and if I was lying down her kneading and purring would put me to sleep.
She came to me in a time of depression, anxiety and grief. She also became emotionally attached to our mini Doxy. Sometimes our Doxy would growl at her because she would become a nuisance.  But then she would change her mind and let her cuddle.

Lucky would get the morning and evening crazies. She would run all over the house bouncing off walls and meowing like a cat on drugs.

At these times we would allow her outside. She loved the outdoors almost as she loved being cuddled.

When she passed away she took a part of me with her. She has been gone 11 years but I still remember her with fondest, of love.

They spend far too few years with us. I've had a string of yard cats who stop by for a meal. Some stay longer than others but they all have their personalities!

This is a sweet telling of the fond memory of your cat. Cats really do make a day better, don't they? Thank you for sharing this with us!
