Tharos
Born 1983, M, from Atlanta,Texas, United StatesHailey sat alone at a wooden table in the kitchen of a haunted-looking farmhouse. Her thoughts drifted back to how she and Jay had become separated. She shuddered at the realization that she could have been captured and transformed into one of Mustissac's mind-controlled slaves.
The unsettling thought faded as a smile spread across her face. She found herself remembering the dinner date she and Jay had shared at the Italian restaurant. The memory of their romantic evening warmed her heart, and she quietly wished they could experience it again before returning to the harsh realities of their mission.
Her daydream was abruptly interrupted by the appearance of floating symbols, glowing red dots, and shimmering blue lines.
"What the freak?" Hailey exclaimed as she jumped to her feet and searched for the source.
Her investigation led her to the metal table in the center of the room, where an old map had come to life. The bracelet on her wrist began to glow as she studied the strange markings. Carefully, she traced one of the blue lines with her finger until it reached a glowing red dot marking a tomb.
"That's where the magic card, Tharos, is located," she said.
Then she noticed two more paths converging on the same destination: one represented by a solid black line, the other by a broken black line.
Card Hunters... and Collectors," Hailey whispered, horror spreading across her face as she realized they were running out of time.
Without another moment to spare, she rushed to gather the others.
"The last magic card, Tharos, is hidden in a tomb in the Kingvalley Desert," Hailey announced. "Unfortunately, we're running out of time. The Card Hunters and the Collectors are already on their way."
Michael slammed his fist onto the table, clearly frustrated.
"I think only two or three of us should go after Tharos," he said. "The rest should stay on standby in case we have to deal with the Hunters and Collectors."
"That's a good idea," Jay agreed.
Michael nodded. "I think Hailey and Boze should retrieve Tharos. Emma and Rain can stay on standby and deal with those freaks if they become a problem."
Everyone agreed with the plan.
Hailey and Boze closed their eyes. Hailey's bracelet and the card in Boze's hand began to glow. A brilliant light surrounded them, and moments later they were teleported to the Tomb of the Unknown in the Kingvalley Desert.
Waiting outside the ancient tomb were its two guardians, Taphios and Soter. Both Tomb Keepers stood motionless, gripping long javelins as they watched over the entrance.
The moment Taphios noticed Hailey and Boze, he lowered his javelin into a ready position and cautiously approached them.
Hailey and Boze immediately raised their hands to show they meant no harm.
A single golden eye suddenly appeared on Taphios's forehead. It glowed brightly as it scanned the two visitors.
"You seek Tharos so you may open the portal to the next level," Taphios said in a calm but commanding voice.
"To claim the card you seek, you must first defeat Soter and me in a Shadow Game."
At the mention of his name, Soter stepped forward with his javelin drawn, silently taking his place beside Taphios.
Hailey and Boze exchanged determined glances before closing their eyes. Their bodies began to glow with magical energy. A Duel Deck materialized in Hailey's hands, while Boze transformed into his confident teenage form, ready to battle.
"I've never dueled a Tomb Keeper before," Boze admitted with a confident smile. "But I believe in my cards. And as long as Hailey and I believe in each other, we'll win.”
The desert wind howled across the ancient tomb as a circle of glowing symbols appeared beneath the feet of the four duelists.
"Let the Shadow Game begin," Taphios declared.
“I'll take the first turn," Taphios said.
With practiced precision, he summoned a stone guardian wielding a massive shield. Soter followed by setting two cards face down before summoning a spectral warrior that stood beside the guardian.
"The Tomb Keepers protect this sacred place," Soter said. "You shall never claim Tharos."
"My turn!" Hailey shouted.
She drew her card and smiled.
"I summon Celestial Sorceress in Attack Position!"
A radiant spellcaster appeared in a burst of golden light.
“I activate the Spell Card Light of Destiny! It increases my monster's power and lets Boze draw one card."
Boze grinned as he added the card to his hand.
"Your move," Hailey said.
Boze drew.
"I Special Summon Guardian Beast Fenris! Then I activate Twin Strike Formation!"
The silver wolf roared as magical energy surrounded both of their monsters.
"Fenris, attack Soter's spectral warrior!"
The wolf leaped forward, shattering the ghostly soldier into countless fragments of light.
"And Celestial Sorceress, destroy the stone guardian!"
A beam of brilliant energy blasted through the massive defender.
The Tomb Keepers staggered as their Life Points dropped.
Taphios & Soter: 5600 LP
Taphios remained calm.
"You fight well... but the Shadow Game has only begun."
He drew and activated an ancient ritual. Dark chains burst from the ground, weakening Hailey's monsters while Soter summoned a colossal stone giant whose footsteps shook the battlefield.
"The guardian of this tomb shall crush your hope!"
The giant smashed Celestial Sorceress, causing Hailey to cry out as Shadow Game energy surged through her.
Hailey & Boze: 6400 LP
Boze clenched his fists.
“Hailey!"
"I'm okay," she replied, steadying herself. "Don't lose focus."
Boze nodded.
"My turn!"
He drew a card and smiled.
"This is exactly what we needed."
He revealed the card.
"I activate Bond of Courage! Because Hailey and I are dueling together, our monsters combine their strength!"
Golden light surrounded Guardian Beast Fenris as Hailey's remaining magical energy flowed into it. The wolf evolved into a majestic armored guardian with glowing wings.
"I Fusion Summon Guardian Paladin Fenris!"
The battlefield trembled as the legendary warrior appeared.
Hailey pointed toward the Tomb Keepers.
"Now! I'll activate my Trap Card—Radiant Path! It doubles Guardian Paladin Fenris's attack for this turn!"
The guardian's sword erupted with brilliant light.
Boze raised his arm.
"Guardian Paladin Fenris... attack the Tomb Guardian!"
One mighty slash split the enormous stone giant in two.
The remaining energy continued toward Taphios and Soter.
"No..." Soter whispered.
The explosion engulfed both Tomb Keepers as the Shadow Game shook the desert itself.
Taphios & Soter: 0 LP
The darkness surrounding the arena vanished. The glowing symbols faded, and the warm desert sunlight returned.
Taphios slowly stood and planted his javelin in the sand.
"You have proven your courage, your trust in one another, and the strength of your hearts."
Soter lowered his weapon and bowed.
"The trial has been completed."
The great stone doors of the tomb slowly rumbled open.
Deep within the chamber, resting upon an ancient pedestal bathed in golden light, was a single glowing card.
Hailey carefully walked forward and lifted it from the pedestal.
"The final Magic Card..." she whispered.
"Tharos."
The card pulsed with divine energy before disappearing into Hailey's deck, accepting her as its rightful bearer.
Boze smiled.
"We did it."
Together, they turned toward the tomb entrance, unaware that the Card Hunters and the Collectors were already drawing closer across the Kingvalley Desert.
