Eye of the Tiger

Delilah and Rain stood at the tree line, staring into the vast stretch of woods where Boze and Bridget had disappeared. For a moment, neither of them wanted to venture any farther. But knowing their friends could be in danger, they exchanged determined glances and stepped into the forest.

"Boze! Bridget!" Rain called over and over as they searched beneath the thick canopy of trees.

Unbeknownst to the two girls, they were being followed.

Jackson, another member of the Big Seven, silently stalked them through the undergrowth. During the failed attempt to seize control of Lorebound Studios, a surge of strange magic had cursed him to wear a ridiculous tiger costume. Now he had only one chance to free himself.

He carefully watched Rain and Delilah, trying to decide which of them would be the easier opponent in a high-stakes Shadow Game. If Jackson won, the tiger costume would disappear, and he would transform into an exact clone of the duelist he defeated. If he lost, his soul would be banished forever to the Umbral Realm.

As Rain and Delilah continued searching, they came upon a monkey costume lying abandoned on the forest floor.

Rain picked it up, her expression immediately turning grim.

"Uh-oh..."

"What's wrong?" Delilah asked.

Rain held up the costume. "This was worn by one of the Big Seven."

Delilah's eyes widened.

"Oh no..." Rain whispered. "What if Boze or Bridget lost a Shadow Game?"

Before either of them could say another word, Jackson stepped out from behind a tree with a smug grin.

"Now then," he said, looking the two girls up and down, "which one of you do I want to look like? You're both very attractive."

Rain frowned in disgust.

Before Jackson could continue, she closed her eyes. The keychain in her pocket began to glow, bathing her hand in soft light. A deck of Duel Magic cards materialized in her grasp.

"So, you're challenging me?" Jackson laughed. "Excellent. I'll look even better once I defeat you in a Shadow Game."

Delilah had heard enough.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out two glowing green stones. Tapping them together, she summoned her own deck of Duel Magic cards.

"You're nothing but a cowardly bully," Rain said, crossing her arms.

Jackson puffed out his chest and pointed to the tiger costume.

"A coward? Hardly. I'm a brave tiger!" he declared before letting out an exaggerated roar.

"If you're really that brave," Delilah replied, "then face both of us in a two-on-one Shadow Game."

Jackson's grin only widened.

"I accept your challenge," he said with a theatrical bow. "When I win, I'll have my pick of which one of you I become."

The forest fell eerily silent as all three duelists activated their Duel Magic decks. The air shimmered with dark energy, signaling that the Shadow Game was about to begin.

Dark violet lightning split the sky as the Shadow Game engulfed the forest. A black aura surrounded the three duelists while glowing runes circled beneath their feet.

"The Shadow Game has begun!" Jackson declared with a laugh. "Soon I'll be rid of this ridiculous tiger costume!"

Rain and Delilah exchanged determined glances.

"We're ending this together," Rain said.

"For Boze and Bridget," Delilah added.

The duel began with Jackson taking the first turn.

"I summon Savage Tiger Warrior in attack mode!" Jackson shouted as a muscular tiger-headed warrior leaped onto the field with a mighty roar. "Then I'll set two cards face down and end my turn."

Rain smiled confidently.

"My turn! I summon Storm Falcon in attack mode!"

A blue-winged falcon swooped from the clouds, crackling with wind magic.

"Storm Falcon, attack Savage Tiger Warrior!"

The two monsters collided in a burst of light. Although Storm Falcon was destroyed as well, Jackson's strongest monster disappeared with it.

"Exactly what I wanted," Rain said. "Now our field is clear."

Delilah nodded.

"My turn! I activate Nature's Blessing! It allows me to special summon Emerald Guardian!"

A towering knight clad in emerald armor appeared, carrying a massive shield covered in glowing vines.

"I'll also equip it with Forest Spirit Blade, increasing its strength!"

Jackson laughed.

"Not bad... but it's still not enough!" "I summon Crimson Fang Beast!"

A gigantic crimson tiger charged onto the battlefield, its claws leaving fiery streaks across the ground.

"Destroy Emerald Guardian!"

The two monsters clashed. Sparks and vines exploded across the battlefield before both monsters vanished.

Jackson grinned.

"Looks like we're even."

Rain shook her head.

"No... this is exactly where we wanted you."

She drew her next card and smiled.

"I activate Twin Hearts Strategy! Since Delilah and I are dueling together, we can combine our remaining Life Energy to summon one monster together."

The wind howled through the forest as both girls placed a card onto the field at the same time.

"We summon..."

"Celestial Harmony Dragon!"

A magnificent silver dragon descended from the heavens. Emerald vines wrapped around its wings while blue lightning danced across its scales. The dragon let out a deafening roar that shook every tree in the forest.

Jackson's confidence began to fade.

"Impossible..."

Delilah smiled.

"Celestial Harmony Dragon gains power from teamwork. That's something you'll never understand."

Jackson desperately activated one of his face-down cards.

"Trap Card! Predator's Ambush!

Dark chains shot toward the dragon.

Rain revealed another card.

"Counter Trap! United Resolve!"

Golden light erupted around Celestial Harmony Dragon, shattering the chains before they could bind it.

Jackson's eyes widened.

"No!"

Rain pointed forward.

"Celestial Harmony Dragon... Harmony Burst!"

The dragon unleashed a brilliant beam of silver, green, and blue energy.

The blast consumed Jackson's remaining monsters before striking him directly.

"Nooooooo!"

His Life Points fell to zero.

The Shadow Game ended with an explosion of brilliant white light that illuminated the entire forest.

As the glow faded, Jackson stood frozen in place. A strange, swirling portal suddenly opened beneath him, crackling with dark energy. The ridiculous-looking tiger costume began to glow before slowly sliding off his body and falling harmlessly to the forest floor.

Jackson looked down in disbelief.

"No... wait..."

Before he could say anything else, the portal pulled him downward. The force of the Umbral Realm dragged him into the darkness until he disappeared completely.

The forest fell silent.

Delilah cautiously stepped forward and picked up the abandoned monkey and tiger costumes.

"It's getting late," Rain said with a worried frown as she looked deeper into the woods. "I guess we'll have to pick up where we left off tomorrow."

Delilah let out a tired sigh and held the costumes tightly.

"I just hope Boze and Bridget are okay."

The two girls turned back toward the path leading out of the forest. Carrying the strange costumes with them, they made their way toward the old, haunted-looki

ng farmhouse.

Neither of them spoke much during the walk.

Their thoughts were only on their missing friends and the unanswered questions waiting for them in the darkness.
