Solar Orbit 73

Now at seventythree, life's an ever-evolving journey,

Three days before summer solstice 1953, I came to be ,

2026 completes trip 73 around the sun feels sublime,

And earth has rotated for the 26,663rd.time.

Man's ambitions in space continue to reign,

Has uplifted my life, time and time again.

This day is for craic with friends, near and dear,

And a day to hang out in ambient cheer.

In ageing, I must keep healthy in body and mind,

Towards friends and strangers, always be kind,

Pondering on that day, at this point of life,

Of relatives, mates, hardships, joys, and strife.

It's onward now to enter into orbit seventy-four,

And looking forward to many, many more.

In due time, this annual solar dance will cease,

My death will come whence my soul will be at peace.

I'm stepping aside now, to become fully resigned,

Leaving all life's issues to the generations behind,

All awhile humanity's turmoil's forever grind onward,

And being elderly, I so tepidly plod forward.
