Chapter One;;
She stared right at me before going away. Her piercing sea green staring right back at me. Giving me a quick peck on the cheek, she was lying to me. Everything she did had a secret behind it, she just didn’t want to tell me. Things were being hidden and things weren’t being said. What happens when we reconnect and find each other many, years later?
Chapter Two;;
I laid in bed soaking up the sun rays. A quick glance here and there, I turned to the window and looked at the crystal, clear blue sky. The distancing tree’s, gave my room a welcoming tree smell. I got up out of bed. Jumping the shower. I let the warm water overcome me and the soap multiply. I got out a clothed myself. Inhaling the deep scent of buttermilk pancakes, I had two then went outside for a walk.
This was my usual routine, nobody was usually on the streets and it was always quiet and lonely outside. Except for a few main street joggers. I walked home thinking nothing except for the emptiness pounding on my skull, until I bumped into a girl my age.
She looked familiar.
“Hey, I’m so sorry.” I gathered the writing papers she was holding and handed then back to her. She gave me a quick nod and held out her hand filled with bracelets and jewelry.
“Ellie Goldfinch, I just moved here, well . . . “ She said taking a small pause. “ This is my original hometown, I moved away for a couple of years then moved back.
Ellie . . . Ellie . . . Ellie
I new an Ellie. Is this the one I knew? The one who always kept secrets and feared her problems? The one who ran away from talking and didn’t like to share anything with me?
“Elmo. “ I said calling her my old nickname for her. “ Elmo is that you?” She looked twice at me than moved a strand of hair out of her face. She made her cute thinking face and stared into space.
“How do you know that n--- . “ She eloped me in a big hug.
“Jakey!” She said her smile grew wider showing her pearly whites. I noticed how she changed over the years.
She changed so fast from a blonde, to a brunette, from sea green eye’s to beautiful piercing blue eyes. She was amazingly gorgeous. I was found of her beauty.
I remembered. She used to be my lover. We dated then she told me she had to move. We never saw each other again. Until now. Almost 4 years later.
We walked back to my house, she started telling me about her life. But she always skipped one main detail her parents. She never talked about them even the four years before she moved she never wanted to talk about them. We made it to my room and I sat down on my bed and patted a spot next to me.
“Ellie,“ I said deeply. “Tell me something. Tell me something about your parents.”
“Jake you know that I can—“
“You always tell me that you can’t but it’s not that you can’t but it’s that you won’t you won’t tell me anything. You seem afraid but your not afraid I can tell.“ I snapped. We knew each other practically our whole lives and she never wants to tell me anything.
“Jake your so demanding, even when we were dating, you want to know about my parents? Then well, I’ll tell you. My parents, they left me at an orphanage at the age of 7 my adoptive parents Becky and James moved out so I used to live in a house all alone. But when I has enough money, I hired a private investigate to go and look for them. He finally got a hint so I went up to California for four years abandoning you, so I could find them. But I couldn’t so I came back.” She said. She took a breath then continued. “ Josh, the ONLY thing I ever wanted to do was find them. ----- “ I lost out on whatever else she said.
Find them, find them… find them.
Those words kept repeating themselves in my mind. Were in this together and I’m glad she told me.
I pulled her into a hug caressing her hair.
“Were in this together, I will help you find your birth parents.” She tightened the hug than said she had to go. She left my house, and I laid down on my bed.
I will help her find her parents.
...
Each day we looked turned into weeks, those weeks turned into months , and those months turned into years.
We looked and looked. We were a pair. A team. Nobody could tear us apart. Ellie and I were married now and we were now 24. We were going into a adoption center to see if we could find a adorable child to take home with us.
We walked in to find two parents yelling at the receptionist. I listened in to their conversation.
“Almost 18 years ago I left my baby Ellie Goldfinch here! Which family was she adopted by! It wasn’t even a question she was demanding to know. Her husband was holding her back.
I went up to her and whispered in her ear. . .
Ellie Goldfinch, is my partner she grew up your baby is now my beautiful wife. She’s over there though you can meet her if you like but hold on lets surprise her. Count to 10 then c’mon tell and bring your husband with you okay?
I hurried up to Ellie as the lady nodded her head at me. I put my hands over Ellie’s eye’s and motioned for the lady to come over.
“Jakey! What are you doing?” Yes she still called me ‘ Jakey ‘ but I loved every second of it.
“Ellie, meet your birthparents I found them over there. They were looking for you.“
“Looking for me as in, they actually wanted to find me?” She opened her eye’s and hurried up to the man and women she looked so Thankful. It brought tears to my eyes.
They had so much to catch up on, and when she stumbles. I’ll be there to catch her.
