Tinkle, the Monarch

Spring was in the air. Lovely colors splattered all around. It was time for Tinkle, the lovely Monarch, to fly to the north. Her journey started a couple of weeks ago, and now it was time for her to stop for a while to lay eggs.

She wasn’t even sure if she would be able to make it to the north, as she was already two months old and had a few more months of her short life left. So, she had to lay eggs on her way for the new generation. She lowered herself and landed on a leaf in a beautiful park.

It was a fine sunny day and the park was full of happy people and cheering sounds. Tinkle was on the leaf only for a short while, when a group of boys emerged. No sooner had they arrived, Tinkle felt a stab of sharp pain. A boy had poked her while trying to hold her by her irresistibly beautiful wings.

Poor Tinkle, now her wing was injured badly. Even worse, her antennae were hurting. She used these to detect the magnetic field of the earth, so she could locate her direction to the north. Tinkle sat on the leaf in agony, not able to move.

Several people passed, not noticing the little butterfly sitting there in pain.

It should have been an hour later, when a tall man approached closer to Tinkle, holding a large camera in his hand and clicking off excitedly with it. Normally, Tinkle would love to pose for the photographers, spreading her enchanting wings with vibrant colors, but she was in pain now.

The photographer sat on a nearby bench, examining Tinkle from a distance, and waiting for her to fly so he could capture some more interesting moves of her. He noticed something strange, the butterfly seemed unusually still.

He walked closer examining Tinkle carefully. Something seemed wrong. The photographer realized she was badly injured and he had to help.

He plucked the leaf carefully and walked home with the butterfly sitting on the leaf in his hand.

As soon as he reached home, he placed Tinkle carefully on a table near a window.

He surrounded her with some flower pots and leaves, and fed Tinkle with nectar daily, watching her carefully every day.

Soon, after the tender loving care of the photographer, Tinkle made great progress with her wings and antennae. She started moving her wings and finally one day she made a fly all over in the room. The photographer smiled with pleasure and opened the window to let Tinkle to fly away. She could now continue her journey to the north.
