Best Friends

Best friends are one of the most important things in the world. But sometimes you fall out. But then you make friends again, or even sometimes you never see them again. My story is about when I lost my friend Claire Summers a couple of years ago on her birthday. She meant everything to me until the crash that killed her.

It was a normal day when I was playing out with my group of friends. Me, Abbey, Lindsey, Lilly, Lauren, Megan, Twinkle, Alexis and Claire. We were all the same age: 16. We all have been friends since kindergarten, where we all played stuck in the mud and all that stuff you do when you are about 4 years old. Or even 8 years old when you like to think the fictional things are real. When we were about 11 we used to go to the mall and go to spas and stuff for fun. I miss doing all that stuff; now that Claire has gone we have all gone our own ways too. I still stay in touch with Lauren and Twinkle but I never hear from the others. I miss them too. We were playing out like I said and we were having a great time. The air was hot and the sun was shining and there was not a cloud in site. The other girls went in for their teas and it was just me and Claire. My parents were on holiday so I was sleeping over at Megan’s house. It was really cool that we lived all in the same street. Claire’s parents were out too so we were left alone. Her dad left his car. I still feel like it was my fault she died, but I know deep down it was not. I know it was though.

It was my silly idea to let myself drive Claire’s dad’s car. So I got in and drove about 10 yards and then let Claire have a go. I was so stupid to do that though, not knowing Claire had not even touched the wheel. We all lived near a main road in north Dekoda. That was the big problem. Claire got into the car and set if off down the road only going 15 yards. Every thing was fine until she put her foot down accidently on the speed pedal and went zooming onto the main road. Her steering was wonky and I screamed when she hit another car and toppled over. Every thing felt like slow motion. There were screams coming from the other people in the car and you could see the people covered in the car was all bloody like Claire. I was questioned by the police and the ambulance crew looked after me as I saw Claires body being squeezed out of her dad’s car and I tried not to look. But it was too hard and painful to stop myself.

There was a huge crash and there was a big collision. Claire’s dad’s car was smashed and so was Claire. I rang 911 and they came in a short period of 10 mins. Claire was taken to hospital that night but I got the news back that she had suffered severe head injury’s and had died that night. My friends were informed as well. They never spoke to me because they thought it was me that killed her. So I had no where to stay and no where to go. I felt broke and destroyed, shattered and clashed like a rock getting hit by the sea. I felt like that inside too.

I didn’t sleep that night for what I saw and I never spoke of it anymore until today. I hated myself that day and I never will drive because of how this has affected me.

Goodbye Claire. you will be missed by everyone, especially me. I still will never forget that day. not ever.
