Leave Me Alone
Born 1971, F, from Conover, NC, United StatesEveryone has a personal motto. Abraham Linclon's personal motto was "with malice toward none, with charity for all". Now, there was a man of integrity.
My daddy's personal motto was "work hard". And he did. He toiled in the fields from sunup to sundown to feed his family and sell what was left of the crop.
My own personal motto was "leave me alone". Whenever my wife would nag me to quit drinkin' I'd holler "leave me alone!"
When my kids would climb all over me and beg me to wrestle or take them to the toy store I'd shout, "leave me alone!"
When my dog would jump all over me the minute I got home from work I'd yell, "Get outta' here! Leave me alone!"
Now, I wipe the sweat from my forehead and as I look around, I realize what a hot and lonely place hell is. My wife ain't here. My kids ain't here. Even my dog ain't here! It's just me, George P. Bradshaw, all alone.
God, all those times I uttered "leave me alone", I wasn't talking to you!
