Mermaids are Real!

Could Ariel be Real?

In 2007, coastal areas throughout the world witnessed an alarming number of whales lying dead on the beaches. This was believed to be a result of some underwater SONAR testing being done. The disturbed whales were trying to flee from the area, advancing more and more towards the shore waters. The water being shallow could not support their enormous mass and the whales got washed ashore.

Unable to move back into the sea, they died on the beaches.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) team started researching on these mass whale deaths. They headed off into the sea on a buoy with their equipments. This led to a phenomenal discovery. They were sending SONAR radiations underwater to monitor the whales’ activity. They recorded the sounds being made by the whales in order to prove that the SONAR waves were disturbing them; almost driving them crazy. It was this time that they discovered 'the bloop’. The researchers claim that this sound does not belong to any of the marine creatures known till date. ‘The bloop’ was recorded again by another independent research team carrying out similar operations in South Africa where dead whales were found lying on the beaches with similar SONAR weapon damages. The NOAA team came over to South Africa to investigate about the sound. They found more intriguing evidence that could establish the existence of a ‘mermaid’ like creature in the sea. A great white shark was shown to them which had the remnants of a weird creature inside it and a spear (a hunting tool). The scientists tested the remains and were convinced it was a mermaid. Unfortunately all these evidences were seized by the Government when they were coming back to the U.S. The team still carried on the investigation and caught hold of a boy who was the first one to report about the dead whales on the beach. He claimed to have seen a mermaid and had even taken a video footage of her. He even described her features with the help of a drawing. The NOAA team claims that the drawings were in favor of what they had discovered back in South Africa. The team now delved in history to find out the truth about mermaids. They found that for centuries fishermen across the world have reported to have found spears inside their catch, unusual sound which was emanating along with the sounds of the whales and dolphins. They named it as ‘The Bloop'.

Spears of different sizes and shapes have been found buried deep in the sides of the fish. They questioned some of the deep sea fishermen if they had more experiences to share. On one such account in Germany, they happened to meet Mr. Hans Bauer who has been fishing all his life in the Baltic Sea. He has caught speared fishes a number of times and is aware of mermaid myths surrounding the deep sea areas. He narrated an interesting tale to them. He said that on a fishing trip once, he happened to carry a camera with himself to take a picture of a whale for his son. That fateful day, when he was pulling up his catch he claims to have seen a human like figure clutching on to the net and trying to come up (or perhaps pull the net down). He rushed for his camera and took a quick snap. The picture turns out to be the only evidence slightly hinting at the existence of mermaids.

Though it cannot be absolutely proved that mermaids exist until one is caught alive, the Aquatic Ape Theory tries to explain how mermaids might have come into existence. This theory speaks of a possible aquatic stage in the course of human evolution. Millions of years ago when the Earth was being threatened by coastal flooding, perhaps some of our primates adapted to the aquatic life and have been living underwater ever since. We became terrestrial humans as we evolved and in a similar way our underwater counterparts might have evolved into what we call as the ‘merfolk’. This may sound strange but this theory points out many of the stunning resemblances between humans and marine creatures. Our webbing between fingers, ability to hold breath under water and our instinctive ability to swim (many should know that human babies have this gift) all hint at our possible marine connection.

After knowing all this, I have started to believe that perhaps the lost city of Atlantis exists deep underwater and is inhabited by the merfolk. My childhood fantasies have been awakened. For those who disagree with me saying all this is hoax and mermaids are myths, I would say that considering the fact that only 5% of the water bodies on Earth have been explored, there can be many such creatures out there hiding from us humans and mermaids could be one of them.
