The Longest Sleep Known To Man-Kind

My hands dropped rapidly and my knees plunged to the floor. Painfully my head whacked against the hard ground and a faint line of ruby red trickled down my face. Though it was throbbing, I lifted my head up but almost immediately it crashed down again. In a determined motion I flickered my eye lids so they would stay open. The July sun shone brightly into my blood red eyes. Flames from the car rose higher and higher into the deep blue sky. In the distance I could see the people gathered round the vehicle and the driver stood pointing in my direction. Eyelids fluttering I let out a silent call for help. My left eyelid closed and moments later the right eye followed its example. I began to fall into a sleep which I knew would be the longest known to man-kind.
