The Daring Escape
Born 2000, M, from Peterlee, United KingdomDiary entry no.1 cell no. 315, 25 May 1822:
Dear diary, my cell is dark and boring. My cell mate is Paul Bently. He is not like any other prisoner; no tattoos and does not look scary. There was only one small round window in the cell. For the toilet, there was only a hole in the corner. Also, there was a bunk bed. My bed was the top one. His was at the bottom. The guards are coming so got to go, bye.
Diary entry no.2 cell no. 315, 26 May 1822:
Dear diary, I am going to escape. Paul has asked me to help him, so I said yes with no hesitations. There was nothing said for about 1 min. Then out of nowhere I said, "we’ll sleep in the day and dig in the night." But then I wondered, "what will we dig with?" Paul went under his bed and got 2 spoons. So, I am now going to sleep, bye.
Diary entry no.3 cell no. 315 May 27 1822:
Dear diary, escaping today. Paul is not up yet so I will update you. I am scared and happy. Sorry, I think Paul is getting up, so I’ll talk to you in like 12 hours, bye. (12 hours later!) I’m nearly out! I can almost taste freedom. One of the things I am looking forward to is fried chicken! yum. Going to get some sleep, big day tomorrow.
Diary entry no. 4 cell no. 315 28 May 1822: Dear diary, I AM OUT!!!! I am sitting in a rock outside about to swim off the island. I will not have much time to talk because someone will realize in a bit that we are gone. This will be the last entry until we are safe and away from here. Bye.
