Natalie's Diary.
Born 1998, F, from Gibsons, BC, CanadaJuly 12, 2004.
Well, it's my 13th birthday. Mum got me this journal. I guess I'm supposed to write in it... Seriously, what was she thinking? I HATE writing. I'm not going to confine my thoughts and secrets to a piece of paper. What if one of my brothers looks at this? That would suck.
July 18.
I'm bored. So I guess I could write for a little while. Today I saw a boy. He was SO CUTE. His eyes were hazel. I was walking on the beach, and I tripped (graceful, right?) and he helped me up. We smiled at each other for like 10 minutes. Finally he introduced himself. Jake Garrols. Wow! He just moved here. And he's going into grade nine too!
August 1.
Today, I saw Jake again. I was sitting in the shop and drinking lemonade. Suddenly I felt someone looking at me. I turned, and there he was! He grinned, and so did I. We talked for a while. Finally he asked me if I was going to the street dance. (A huge dance where the main road is closed off, and bands play, and there's even a huge mosh pitt sorta thing.) I said yes, but I was meeting friends. He frowned and said he'd hopefully see me there.
August 4.
I went to the street dance. I was waiting for Alicia at our designated meeting place, when she called and said she'd be late. So there I was, alone, in a crown of almost drunk teens. I was starting to get scared, because of group of guys were all staring at me. I was about to leave, when Jake showed up. I was so relieved that I almost hugged him. We went for a walk. Pretty soon a band started to play REALLY good songs. And I mean GOOD songs. I, ever the dancer, started swaying to the beat. Pretty soon we were in the middle of a couple hundred screaming, jumping, laughing people. Jake was laughing, and we jumped and danced. Finally though, we were too tired to dance anymore. I saw Alicia, and he saw his friend, and I saw him no more that night.
September 6.
High School started today. It was pretty awesome. I saw Jake as soon as I walked in. I went up to say hi, and he smiled. But he was with a bunch of friends, so I just went to my locker. Out of the 4 different classes for my first day, he was in 2. Math, and Science. He only sat with his friends. He didn't say hi, but maybe he didn't have the chance.
September 10.
I am SURE Jake doesn't like me. The only words he has said since school started are: Excuse me.
I know! I a SO mad! I just don't know why he hasn't said anything.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! LO-SER.
September 22.
My brothers read this. And they wrote the rather crude note above my newest entry. Oh well. They got grounded. Mwa haha. I still haven't talked to Jake. I don't know why he hasn't said anything. I am now so angry at him, that I don't know what to do. Also, soccer just started up again at school. I obviously joined. I (I'm not trying to boast) am one of the best players on the team. Our team is Co-ed, meaning boys and girls. I play front. I LOVE it. I don't know who else is on my team yet. I'll figure it out by next practice though, which is tomorrow.
September 23.
I DON'T BELIEVE IT. Guess who our new goalie is? Jake Garrols. I know! I AM SO MAD. When we were practicing our kicks, I kicked the ball so hard at him, that it hit him in the stomach, and he fell onto the ground, gasping for air. Well, at least I was satified in that way. Coach Burbemy says I've improved. Yay me.
*10 years later.
I stopped my entries, as my life became more busy. I eventually learned that Jake had ingnored me, because a few of my enemies had told him some VERY untrue things about me. When we graduated, he learned that the rumours were untrue, and even though he apologized, I couldn't find it in me to forgive him. Now I work hard, and have established a good life. And I have a husband. I'll tell you how I met him.
I just finished college. The annual street dance was taking place, so I decided to go and have fun. I was dancing in the middle with some guy friends, when the wave of people sent me slamming into another person. I turned to apologize, when I saw those same, amazing hazel eyes. Jake Garrols.
I was so surprised, that I agreed to go for a drink at a local bar to catch up. I was still mad at him, and I told him so. He laughed, and apologized again. He meant it. I could tell. I forgave him. but still, I was hurting. At the end of the night he walked me home. I was happy. He walked me right to the door, I turned to hug him, when he KISSED me. I was so mad at him that I went in and slammed the door. I didn't see him for 2 days. The next time I saw him was in the park. I sat on a bench, reading the newspaper. I had it up to my face. I guess no one could see my face. I heard someone sit down next to me, and heard their phone beeb as they dialed a number. Then, I heard a familiar voice leaving a message.
"Hi Natalie. It's me, Jake. I wanted to apologize, I guess I was stupid. Anyways, if you could call me back, I need to talk to you. Bye."
I put down the newspaper, and looked at him.
"About what?" He looked so surprised, and I laughed. Hard. He pretty much apologized, talked a bit, and then asked me out.
So now you know who my husband is.
