Perfect Imperfections
F, from Brownsville, Texas, United StatesShe stood right on the edge of the highest cliff possible. Ready to say goodbye to the world, tears began to stream down her face. The waves crashed on the rocks harshly at the bottom. She heard a car door slam and fast paced footsteps towards her. A hand went to her scar-filled wrist. Pain shot through her wrist, as there were fresh scars.
She just wanted to get away from everything, this world. Years and years of bullying had finally pushed her over the edge. Her name? Allison. Ever since she was 10 or 11 she had been popular around the school, then middle school came. All her friends turned on her and wanted nothing to do with her. They slammed her to the walls for no reason at all saying she was fat, ugly and did not deserve to live.
In her final year of middle school, she broke. Allison began to cut herself, calling out all the names her old friends called her. The bullying continued until 11th grade in high school. That year was the year she would leave the world. Allison felt unwanted, insecure and broken. All fault to the ones that hurt her every time.
Her parents had left her with an aunt since she was 3, due to them being alcoholics and drug addicts. Her aunt? She was as bad as her parents ever were, maybe even worse. She abused her and somehow no one ever found out. She covered up the bruises with make-up so that no one could see the damage caused to Allison. “You better not tell anyone, Allison, or maybe someday the cops will find you-“, her aunt said, hatred spilling in her voice. With a cold dark laugh she continued, “They’ll find you dead and it would be like it was an accident.” Allison just nodded and ran through the front door.
Back to her reality now, she couldn’t recognize the arm around her. Her tears blinded her vision and she could only recognize the bottom of the cliff. “Please Allison, don’t.” It was her only friend, Liam. He was a nice guy, maybe just the only one that liked her. “I love you, I would be devastated if I let you go through with this.” She turned to him, “You wouldn’t, there is plenty of other friends you have and how could you love a girl like me?” Allison spoke again, her voice breaking in the process, “My life is messed up, I am nothing. Why in the world would I want to keep living like this? I just want to end this” Liam, tearing up, ran a finger across her wrist, "I will tell you this one time, I love you and I don’t care that you have problems as big as this. Everyone has some"- He hesitated a bit, “-and I want to help you through this. You know I have been always been there for you.”
She thought about all those times they spent together. “I-I’m sorry”, she sobbed putting her head in his chest hugging him. As if it was automatically he hugged back. “Please don’t do this or even try this again” he whispered in her ear.
