“WIZARD!!!” The powerful voice of the leather draped bandit leader collided with the face of the cliff, the faint clanking of armor and sword chattering in the background.
“We have come for your power Wizard, there is no point in resisting us! With your power we will surpass all other men and rule this world, nothing will stand in our way! Surrender your power to us and your suffering will end quickly!”
A break in the clouds opened up the sky and a ray of sunlight beamed down onto the edge of a cliff where a large mangled stump rested. The stumps’ mangled form presented a throne like altar where an ancient figure rested. Its form seemingly human, its body draped in dark, dreary blue cloak. Its head adorned with a hat whose brim spanned the horizon and was shaped like a shield with a large wilted spike. Its face hidden behind the shadow of the hats brim, at the edge of the shadow a long mangled grey beard cascaded down its chest like a thick mass of vines stripped of their grapes and berries. The figures head twitched to the side as he let out an annoyed groan. His voice deep and bellowing like a giant awakening from a thousand year rest. The Bandit leader and his men shuddered as the figure groaned, feeling his presence come alive in the air.
“Mortal fools…… You come to me with intention to take my power so that you may surpass other men. Claiming that my power is surpassed mortal men and yet you expect me to surrender my power to you? Mortal men yourselves, your efforts and breath is wasted…” The wizard muttering his words in an annoyed fashion.
The Bandit leaders face grew a scowl and his temperament turned to anger as he shouted at the figure on the wood carved throne. “Wizard!! We are no mere men! We are many brave and ambitious men, more than 60 strong! We have slain many a beast across this land, I am the Bandit Lord Tarious, Slayer of the Giant!!” Tarious gestured to his men to bring a mule driven cart forward. The crack of a whip echoed onto the Cliffside as a cart carrying the severed head of a giant rolled forward. The mouth of the giant sewn shut and the eyes hollowed, the skin leathered from numerous travels. “Do you see now Wizard!!! No created can stand in our path, no matter how great their strength! You will fall to us Wizard.”
The ancient figure let out another tiresome groan as his lips parted slightly at the corner of his mount and he uttered; “we shall see…” His arms slowly reached over to a dark figure whose form was hidden in shadow on the side of the ancient throne. A pair of crimson tinted eyes opened on the figure. A large wolf peered forward emerging from the shadows. It stood five feet tall on all four legs, its coat grey with a tint of faded blue. The beasts jaw and snout, thick and elongated, attached to a head that rivaled the size of a large bear. Its body thick and visibly muscular, even through its thick coat. As the Ancient beings hand rested on the wolfs head a sudden shock seemed to bolt through both of their bodies and the wolfs gaze widened. Suddenly the wolfs entire body tensed and he let out a monstrous howl that rattled the armor of the bandits. Every last hair on the wolfs body stood up on end and then in a sudden glimmer of energy the hairs melded together and turned to a sterling silver color, hardening into a rough jagged armor engraved with ridges formed by the patterns of the melded hairs, like the lines and swirls of a the water in a rushing river. Its teeth turned to silver shining like diamond blades.
The Ancient motioned his hand forward and the great armored wolf leaped forward over the cliff and above the head of the bandits. They gazed up in fear and raised their weapons but in the moment a great bolt of lightning violently exploded out of the Ancients outstretched hand and struck the great wolf. Small bolts of lightning exploded from the wolfs jagged armor, raining down on the bandits below. Their weapons received the bolts like lightning rods and the field was filled with the hallowed screams of dozens of men burning from the scorching bolts. The wolf collided with the ground where the bandits once stood. Only Tarious remained, his face stricken with fear as he fell to his knees and dropped his sword. “W-what is this terrible power… No being should be gifted with such power…” said Tarious, his body frozen and face turned pale. The Ancient being slowly stood from his carved throne, the wood creaking from his long awaited motion.
“Do you see now mortal? Are you still so confident? For over four thousand years men have come seeking my power and yet none have proven worthy enough of my power. I have no patience for those as pathetic as you. The image of your face pains me now, so I will have it scorched from this earth..” the wizards stern words echoed through the cracking of fried bodies.
In that moment Tarious’s gaze fixed on the wolfs figure emerging through the smoke rising from the torched bodies of the bandits stricken by the lightning. The wolf slowly walked up to the kneeling bandit, his hulking presence overwhelming Tarious. The Ancient outstretched his arm again and cast a stream of molten flame and magma onto the wolfs armored body. Magma and flame slashing and dancing violently off of the wolfs sterling silver body, its armor began to glow bright red, its teeth glowing like the rays of the sun. The wolf slowly opened his jaws as a wave of heat escaped its mouth and washed over Tarious’s face. Tarious belted out and the wolf pressed his jaws over Tarious’s head slowly searing through his flesh and bone turning his skull to ash. Tarious’s belted screams screeched through the land, scaring it with another fallen man in search of the Ancient beings great power, the legendary power of…. The Wizard!!
