AGAINST THE FREEDOM
Born 1997, M, from Manizales, ColumbiaAGAINST THE FREEDOM
September 21, 1943, my captain was working in the strategic to counter the Kamikazes of the Japanese army in his office, while I was dreaming in the wonderful world of the books in my old desk; I used to write one book per week, mainly about drama, adventure and comedies, on the other hand I had to write the horrible war report about the millions of deaths in the pacific ocean by the war between U.S. and the Japanese Empire. Despite of the fact that I should have been in the battle ground, the doctors had said that my visual problems did not let me to take part in the war, that is why I was selected as the Second Regiment Captain’s assistant, as well as the official assistant for the U.S.-Japan war. In my point of view there was no pride in that position, but I had to work in order to protect my country.
All of those things happened one year ago, now I am even in the same office; It has been more difficult to write my stories, but I recently wrote a wonderful story, and I think this is the moment to read it:
AGAINST THE FREEDOM
Bowen Ling Junior was playing basketball at the little basketball court of Atlanta, while his friends were talking about the racist people. it was a strange topic for Bowen, he was just ten years old, and his friends were between thirteen and fifteen years old. The problems about racism, the Negro and the Constitution, the slavery that disappeared after the civil war, and the human rights were issues that Bo had never considered, although his father was ever talking about the problems he had as a result of the discrimination in the city, besides he complained about the racist government.
Later, during the dinner in his house, Bowen talked with his parents about the racism, obviously they were surprised by the kind of questions he was making. Moreover they did not know how to discuss about that serious problem with their son, that is why Bowen´s father asked him to read the Negros magazine called “The Negro rights”.
Bowen started to read about the situation of the Negros after the civil war. it was such a big chance to learn about the government position and the social point of view about the Negro´s right. Also it gave him the opportunity to realize the discrimination against the Negro. he discovered that the government was racist and it was against the Negros´s development, something that was obviously shown in the social development, for instance, in the scholar bus in which the black children had to be in the back of the bus, the police officers did not pay attention to the Negros’s complaints, the white people thought they were more important than the black ones. On the whole, he realized his serious situation as a Negro in the United States. Furthermore, Bo realized the main chance he had to change that situation, to improve his life and the life of all the black people in his community.
Bowen was growing up, his mind had already changed. Likewise, he was an excellent youth leader, he wanted to improve the Negros´s life, but he did not want to have war, he did not think it was the right way, however, the white people had hurt the Negro. Bowen had chosen that pacifist way by reading about the Mahatma Gandhi´s philosophy based in the war of love, loving was the way to achieve the success in the social order, to avoid the discrimination. this was such a big way to support his “freedom” project.
On September 21, 1931, Bowen was walking with his brother in the 6 avenue street, suddenly a group called ku klux klan appeared with so many torches, and posts with racist messages. that was the first time he saw that group that proclaimed the white supremacy as the only way to get the social order, one of the worst racist philosophies of the history. Bo and his Brother got away immediately, it was a dangerous situation, but also that strange meet with Ku klux klan was the beginning of the most important social career of Bowen.
Bowen was thirty years old, and was working in the five avenue Baptist church. Moreover he took an important part of the social Negro movement, also became the leader of this social movement, showing his philosophy of love. In spite of being rejected or accepted, he continued working hard. that is why some people of the radical white groups, especially the ku klux klan, became angry and started to collaborate with the police to charge Bowen with vandalism. he was in the jail some days, but the lawyers did not let him to stay imprisoned so much time.
When Bowen was going to a meet in the Social Center, two strange men came up and caught him. after, he was taken to a secret place. he knew the city, but it was a new place of the city for Bowen. He asked the men for reasons, but they did not give a reason, that is why Bo waited to get an idea about what was happening.
In an old build some people took him and started to punish him to get information about the Negros´ movements in order to complain about their rights, but Bowen did not say the truth about the social groups, he realized that the ku klux klan wanted to destroy the social movement´s plans, so, he kept quiet while the ku klux klan punished him by horrible ways, for instance, by torturing.
Bowen sacrificed his life to protect the Social Negro Trade Union, to protect the human rights. Now he is our hero, now we must continue working to get the equity, without race difference.
THE END
This was my newest story. after finishing this great story I have already realized that my future is not the war nor to be a soldier. I swear that I am going to be the best writer, because the cultural richness is a treasure we must take care of, and if we take care it, we will understand culture around the world, which is the only way to achieve the peace.
