A Young girl named Sarah was killed by two young boys on a November day back in 2009. It was just before Sarah's 21st birthday. Sarah and her boyfriend were going to meet her boyfriend''s dad to drop off some keys to a truck. As they rounded the curve on the road out by Hillsborough State Park two trucks came racing side by side not wanting to let the other by and Sarah and her boyfriend had no where to go except be forced off the road. In doing so the truck overturned and threw her underneath the truck as it rolled on top of her. She died instantly they said. The boys continued on. The one that caused the accident did not know what he had done until the other boys called him at his house. They were arrested one year later and taken to court where they were to stand trial. It was postponed for over another year.

Sarah may be gone but her spirit lives on. She will never be forgotten. I hope they will pass stricter laws on reckless driving, without regard to others. Sarah's boyfriend had his hand severely damaged and may never get full use of his hand again or be able to get his life back together. They had been together for many years and had planned on getting married. The boys who did this will have to also live with this on their shoulders, the burden of what they have done. When they finally went to court the judge gave the three boys probation, which they did not do. They were put in jail on violation of probation and assault on another person at a bar. More reckless driving after tickets and DWI. They will never learn. So many have wondered why they were not convicted of manslaughter.

Every November I think of Sarah and wonder what her life would be like now if she had lived. Did her death serve a purpose to show others the error of their ways? So many have told me it has been so hard on the family's trying to get their lives back together. That morning of the accident I was on my front porch when they waved on their way out the driveway. Sarah had told me the day before they were to get off work early to go to a concert to celebrate her upcoming birthday. She was so excited and looking forward to being 21 that is all she could talk about. It wasn't but a short while later after they had left I found out about their death from their roommate coming to tell me. He was so upset he was at a loss for words to get it out of his mouth what had just happened. Of all things he heard it on the news!

If my story will help save just one person from this happening to them it will be worth it going to print out there in the world for all to read. I only knew Sara and her boyfriend for a short time but she loved him so much and was a hard worker. She was so proud of her accomplishments, and had so many hopes and dreams for the future.
