CONFLICT BETWEEN THE CREATOR AND THE CREATED!
Born 1949, M, from Kashmir, IndiaConflict Between The Creator And The Created!
He thought it better to write a story through which he could convey his message to the world. For that reason he needed a character employed in the proposed story and used for the mission which the writer was not able to accomplish physically.
One day a thought strikes the writer that his presence in this world cannot be pointless. He believes God sent him definitely with a purpose. He finds it absolutely inconceiveable that he is here just to ‘drink, dine and dance’.
“I am here for some big mission God wishes from me”, he supposed.
But what his mission could be, he did not exactly understand.
“I am not a politician, a reformer or a spiritual personality that I can influence people and offer them lessons; I am just a writer”, he pondered to himself.
From that day, this thought would haunt him always, that he had been sent here with some objective of which he is not aware, but that would certainly be related to the welfare of all mankind.
The writer, thus, scripted a story in his mind.
He created a character which is robust and vigorous according to the demands of the proposed story. But when the writer wanted to move him on his plan, he did not! Ironically, instead of adhering to the directions of the writer, the character began to dictate to the writer reversely. At first, the writer is puzzled over this revolt of the character, but is then confused because the character is not moving in the story as per the aspirations of the writer.
This male character wants a beautiful female companion for him. He argues with the writer that loneliness is killing him so he must be given a beautiful female companion. This male character tells the writer that in absence of love and warmth from a beautiful woman, he can’t do justice with his role.
Arguments and counter-arguments between the writer and the male character are stretched to a dispute.
The writer then observes a coolness towards the ‘male character’ and does not talk further to him, so the story stops to progress ahead.
Subsequently, the friends of the writer intervene, because they too wish that the writer should carry forward his mission. So they suggest the writer should start negotiations with the ‘male character’ and try to arrive at some compromise. The writer is persuaded by his friends so the writer starts a new dialogue with the ‘male character’.
Finally, the writer and his character enter into an agreement. The writer agrees to create a beautiful, smart and sharp female companion for him, while the ‘male character’ promises to carry forward the mission of the writer according to his aspirations.
So the writer creates a female character according to the taste of the ‘male character’ in the story.
A carefree confident tall woman about twenty years old having a luminous soft face with rounded cheek bones, sharp shaded gorgeous gray eyes outlined with a dash of kohl, arched eyebrows above a graceful nose and soft pouty pink lips is created by the writer. The fine-looking golden silken hair of this female character, which trickles down her back in curls like rivers of ringlets flowing down her backside, adds value to her appearance.
Really, he created a girl with enchanting face and physique.
“I have created a woman more beautiful than Cleopatra and Helen of Troy for you. Her eyes are as beautiful as springs of Sheeshnaagh and Veerinaagh of Kashmir; her nose is like the tower of Lebanon; her hair is as soft as the silk of China; her charm is akin to the Taj Mehal of India; her hair is as wonderful as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. I’ve made her so pleasant and lovely that she will capture your heart from all sides. Now it is you who has to keep the promise you made to me”, the writer tells the ‘male character’.
But instead of solving any problem it deepens the crises. The ‘male character’ likes and loves so much his ‘female companion’ but the latter does not like him. She always quarrels with the male character. This situation depresses the ‘male character’ so a disheartened character fails to carry forward the mission of the writer.
On the other hand, the ‘female companion’ begins to pester the writer and tells him that since he is responsible to create her so it becomes obligatory on his part to save her from the torture of ‘male character’, who has started harassing her.
The writer asks her, “You must know that the first wife of Adam, ‘Eve,’ became evil because of insubordination to her husband Adam, and to her God. It is her independence from Adam and her position beyond the control of her creator that makes her ‘evil’. A willful woman is a threat to the divinely ordered state of affairs”.
“I don’t believe in Jewish mystical stories. I just know, I am a being now, so I must be given a choice, not binding”, the ‘lady’ argues.
The writer gets frustrated, so asks from this very ‘female character’ to suggest a remedy. She demands that she wants a beautiful, wise and strong male companion for her. She suggests that such fresh creation from the writer will solve the crises in the story.
“How?” The writer asks the lady.
“Loneliness has led me to Psychological struggle. The company of a male character of my liking can only help me to overcome this feeling of emotional and physical baggage”, she advocates.
“But what about my mission?” The writer puts forward his point.
“My suggestion can solve that also!”
“How?” The writer is curious.
“Because I will give the ‘new male character’ a lot of love and will encourage and support him to carry forward your ‘Premise’!”
The writer is convinced with the argument of the ‘lady’, so he creates a ‘new male character’ according to the taste of the ‘lady’.
Now more controversies erupt in the story. The ‘lady’ likes the ‘new male character’ very much and the ‘new male character’ too loves her so dearly. But both spent all the time in loving each other instead of giving attention to the theme of the story. Moreover, the brawls between the first ‘male character’ and the ‘new male character’ create more problems for the writer to deal with. The first ‘male character’, who was believed to be the protagonist, has turned villain now.
Ironically, the writer finds himself infatuated with the ‘lady’ now as well!! So he begins to hate both, ‘the old male character’ and ‘new male character’.
He gets frustrated and stops the story here. He comforts himself with the thought that there are many great works which remain unfinished, that maybe my work appears unfinished but is actually finished like Donatello’s “non finite” technique in sculpture!!!
