Time is Worth Fighting For
I: Just Dropping By
Isaac here, a seemingly normal man with a cozy green sweater and nice black pants, is now coming back home from a week-long vacation. Tired from all these procedures, he slowly closes his eyes and drifts to a nice nap.
“Where am I?” exclaimed Isaac as he slowly observes the gloomy, dark, room that strikes him a lonely feeling. Where was everyone, where was life, none at all in this twisted world to tell you the truth.
“It’s so, empty,” Isaac said to himself, taking each step to each second of time, hoping to find anyone to help.
Suddenly a man concealed in a black robe appears from a shadow.
“Um, mister gloomy, when can I wake u-argh” Isaac was about to say until he felt his head get hurt by some force. Isaac tried to fight it but the man just walked away and mumbled a few words. Isaac slowly knelt down, succumbing to the force and saw a mental image of a building.
“Am,am I dea-ugh!” Isaac thought as the pain went forward and he was down onto the floor face flat.
“Let, me G-oooh” Isaac yelled out but he instantly woke up and realized he was getting weird stares from everyone.
“Whoa, ” Isaac thought to himself as he looked out the window to see the same blue sky as before.
“We’re sorry to inform you passengers but flight 420 is experiencing some turbulence on board.” said an automated message on the plane.
“Ugh, budget flights,” the man next to Isaac said but instead of saying anything Isaac was in deep thought and retold the events that came before him.
A few minutes later Isaac noticed that the plane was bouncing quite a bit but quickly brushed it aside like everyone else. He was afraid to sleep again so he studied the booklets the plane had and read to himself again on the basics of surviving a plane crash that was already shown to him the last ten or so times he traveled. Midway he felt, weird, his brain had an itch and then another. The itching turned to stabbing then the stabbing turned to,
“AHH GOD WHY IS THIS HAPENINAHH!” Isaac yelled as he saw an image of a plane, the same plane he was on, the same plane going down like dead fly, the same fate everyone had if he didn’t do something. The pain faded away and Isaac waited for some time then turned to his window, he saw the populated city that he lived in and knew the flight was nearing it’s end.
“This doesn’t seem right, wait, this can’t be happening!” Katuso thought as the view was obscured and then he knew,
“THIS PLANE IS ABOUT TO CRASH!” said the man next to him as he saw what Isaac saw. Everyone looked out their windows and noticed the same drop they would all find. Seatbelts were unstrapped, kids were crying, and Katuso knew he had to leave this plane fast. Isaac and his seatmate quickly rushed and stumbled upon everyone as they were all unsure if there were enough parachutes for the all of them.
Sad to say, there were only about 50 and there were about 150 trying to get back home in one piece. Everyone began to fight for a parachute and while Isaac was rummaging for one,
“Is there anything we can do, I can do to stop this?” he thought as he finally got hold of one and tried to open the hatch to get out. He wasn’t the first in line but he was getting pushed amongst the crowd he could see the city, the little men and women unaware this plane was on a crash course. Isaac recieved one last push from a hasty adult and he was the one of many to go 120 mph into the earth. Isaac kept the hybrid formation as he closed his eyes and prayed to live. Isaac gripped the cord of the parachute and tugged it until it finally plopped open. As soon as everyone else did this the screaming lessened and he heard more people jump out, one by one, some carrying their children in order to save them. Isaac relaxed himself as he saw the city getting closer and closer each minute as he and the others now fell like feathers and were seeing a parade of people watching them go down.
“It would be a shame if someone landed on a rooftop,” someone said as they fell slowly.
Isaac glided into the parade of people as he was greeted with warm welcomes and lots of, “oh thank gods” as the passengers were going down. Isaac counted the people going down but was interrupted by a news reporter that asked him a lot of questions about the experience. Isaac was little uncomfortable about answering these but his short and simple answers were the words that would soon be in the papers. After a few hours, Isaac decided to go to his apartment and just take a relaxing nap in peace. As he uncovered his bed he decided to turn on the tv, and see if the others made it out alive.
“I wonder what happened to the pilots, I didn’t hear them say anything over the mic during the crash,” Isaac said to himself as he got the channel running.
“We’ll do it li- and here’s channel 3 with Brad and Maya and uh we have a story for you,” Brad said.
“Just a few hours ago, flight 420 was hit with turbulence. Isaac James, one of the survivors, noticed it wasn’t just that for the flight,” said Maya.
“Wait, one of the survivors!?” Isaac thought.
“The plane started to go down and people quickly aborted through the use of parachutes, according to Brookhim Airlines, a total of 232 people were on that plane and 210 have been reported to have successfully escaped.” said Brad.
“Let’s just pray we’ll find the rest of them,” said Maya.
“Agreed,” said Isaac and Brad at the same time.
“Well, that’s all the info we have for this so goodnight,” Said Brad as the tv turned off and isaac went to bed.
Oh this is just the beginning Isaac has to go through, I assure you.
II: The Midnight Ride of Isaac James
As Isaac drifted to sleep he tried to look around, hoping he would just wake up the next day and enjoy his last day of summer break. Sadly the poor man was in the same dark dream, same dark realm, same dark feeling.
“I don’t have to go through head trauma again,” Isaac said out loud as he prepared for the worst.
The same guy came out of the shadows and just looked at Isaac. Looked at him for a good minute or two.
“Please tell me you're a good guy,” Isaac said to the man.
The man just left and mumbled a few more words as he came to be one with the shadows. Isaac decided that since he wasn’t getting hurt in the head, there was more to do there. He walked in the same slow fashion, looking left and right every step he took. Then maybe up and down. And sometimes diagonally. Little Isaac knew about this realm, he was going in circles as all that looking had him dazed. It was so dark he never noticed.
As he did his fourth run he heard something, it didn’t seem like talking. As Isaac stopped to listen closely he had the same itch as before.
“Not again,” Isaac said as he tried blinking his eyes and running to wake himself up. The itching soon turned stabbing, and well, you know the rest.
As he knelt on the ground he began seeing a mental image of some sort of museum and some dark spiral in the sky. As Isaac soon tried to get up he saw a light that was coming at him like a speeding train. He used all his might to roll out of the way but all that got him was a hurt leg.
This light was the TV turning on and he just rolled off his bed.
“Please tell me this is not going to be a recurring thing,” Isaac thought as he got back up and checked the clock.
11:45 P.M. the clock read, as Isaac looked at the tv. A commercial was airing so as he stumbled to get the remote he looked out the window and saw something unbelievable. It was a small dark red spiral in the sky. The same one in his dream. In the same direction of the museum.
“Please tell me this is another dream,” Isaac thought as he pinched himself.
It wasn’t
Isaac was in deep thought on what to do. Disregard this as some sort coincidence, or go out to the museum and solve this mystery. He knew the plane, the building, the spiral, and the museum was some sort of call to him so he left his apartment.
As he walked around in the cold with only a jacket, he was calling himself a taxi to take him to the museum and worry about money later.
A few minutes went by and a small taxi cab parked in front of the apartment.
“Where to Isaac?” the driver said as Isaac could never afford a car.
“Hey Frank, can you take me to the museum, I have to meet someone there,” Isaac lied to hurry this process.
“That’s about 5 miles and since I liked to be paid in advance-”
“Yeah yeah, here’s the money.” Isaac said as he struggled to get his wallet.
As the taxi started up and Isaac gave Drank the money, he heard some screech from the back. As Isaac looked back he saw some shadow run by.
“Can you make a stop at the hospital,” Isaac whispered as he looked around some more.
“What?
“Nothing,” Isaac replied.
As the minutes passed by and the car stopped at a light, Isaac noticed there was not a single bit of traffic on the road, sure it was close to midnight but the whole city was a ghost town.
“This can’t be right,” Frank said as he noticed this too.
Isaac looked around some more, but then his head started to itch.
“Ahh god!” Isaac exclaimed, as his body was taking over.
“Hey, stay sti-” Frank was about to say until Isaac lunged for the wheel. The car swerved around and they were getting pushed around but Isaac just kept on steering the wheel and suddenly becoming the driver as Frank ended up in the passenger seat. Frank decided to not look at this insanity so he closed his eyes braced himself for a crash but Isaac kept on nearly missing every object. From traffic cones, to stop signs, this car was on the second crash course of the day. Isaac tried to fight the urge but his hand was glued onto the wheel and when he did, his foot refused to step on the brakes. Isaac closed his eyes as the car was going faster and faster. Isaac thought fast so he yanked on the emergency brake and the car soon made a stop. Frank was still frozen in fear so Isaac gave him a quick slap and then Frank exclaims,
“GET OUT OF MY CAR BEFORE I CALL THE COPS!”
Isaac did as told as he rushed out of the car and approached the museum as Frank drove off into the distance.
III: Old Almighty
Isaac took a look at the museum, the grand thing was home to many ancient artifacts and attracted everyone in town. Now it’s just a run down museum that was give or take, one month until it had to be closed for good. Thieves took some of the most precious things, the best staff members left one by one for unknown reasons, and people kept breaking the precious vases.
Isaac slowly walked up to the museum, one eye for the door, another for the sky. Everything was acting normally until he heard something. He couldn’t tell if it were the bushes, the tree, or his imagination. He headed towards both anyways as it wasn’t wind that made it. As he took a look around the tree and inside a bush he heard something.
“Anyone here,” Isaac said but he heard nothing.
He disregarded the noise and kept walking to the museum until he felt a stabbing feeling.
In his back.
“Ugh, who did that,” Isaac managed to say as he stooped towards the ground.
“This fine blade of mine, poor thing is dull as of now,” said a low voice behind Isaac.
Isaac turned to see and met face to face with fate. This wasn’t no ordinary man, it was some dark figure. It was practically a shadow in human form. This shadow only had a dark purple smile as it enjoyed Isaac’s suffering, and a dark, dull dagger in it’s left hand.
“Hope you have time for an introduction Misterrrrrr,”
“Isaac, Isaac James ah,”
“Well people in the underworld call me Karayan but for you, you could call me Kai. Seems like you city folk are more used to that,”.
“Just explain why I’m here and why I shouldn’t-” Isaac was about to say until Kai put his hand to his mouth.
“Relax kid, I’m giving you some time to reflect on your planet before I annihilate it,”.
“Bah, why should I believe this old maniac,” Isaac thought.
“Maniac! How dare you result to such language.”
“Wait, you could read my-”
“Yes I can read your feeble mind. Now back to the subject, I am what you humans would like to refer to as the,’death god’ though I can assure you it’s much more than that.”
“Go on,” Isaac said as he got back up.
“Well when there’s light, there’s shadow. I’m the result of the dark part of the dark souls that inhabit this place. Since other life is light years away, conquering this place gives me the key to these galaxies. Then there’s you, you have a gift, a gift not even a god as thyself will ever obtain.”
“Well what is tha-,wait a minute,”
“Yes, and now I brought thyself to vanquish you and place you where you belong,”
“What the shadow realm,”
“Morel like a shadow closet. Can’t keep filth like you wandering around in my nice realm,”
“But why haven’t you killed me before, why wait until now to do so?”
“For the logical reason, your gift can protect you from imminent death of the others around you. You really thought a bunch of plebeians with barely any parachutes would have came out all alive. Ha. So I came her personally to exploit this,”
“What do you mean- hey wait,” Isaac said as Kai grabbed him and threw him towards the museum, forever crippling him.
The End
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, okay, that’s not how it entirely happened.
As Isaac struggled to get out of Kai’s grasp, he received the itching in his head.
“Not this time,” Isaac thought as Kai was about to throw him.
Strangely, Isaac didn’t enter the realm but he still received the same feeling. As his was getting encumbered through the pain he saw something. He saw the museum but something that stood out was a window. Before Isaac can process that, Kai threw him at full speed toward the museum. As Isaac flew, he saw the window from his head. Knowing the risks, he formed his body into a ball and crashed through the window. Glass flew everywhere as Isaac was still going full speed until he hit the (luckily) smooth floor as he slid a couple of meters down the entrance.
“Wait a minute!” Kai yelled as he ran towards the museum entrance.
Isaac decided to run as fast as he can, looking for something useful to get away from Kai. He passed the mummy exhibit, the prehistoric exhibit, and a bit of kids area that had a little bit of everything until he saw something grand. It was the ancient sword of Hirlontus, an ancient knight that had a smooth, slick, sharp sword customly made by him to slay every foe in his path.
“Well I guess he wanted this to go into the right hands,” Isaac said to himself as he bashed on the display case.
Isaac soon broke open the case and saw the nice sword. As he put his right hand on it he felt like a hero. Right until he realized it was too heavy for him and he struggled with even both hands.
“Hey Isaac. I would have been here sooner but I thought you would do something like this. And I can’t imagine how you haven’t heard me laughing in the distance,” Kai said.
“Well, Back,” Isaac said as he huffed from the sheer weight of that thing,”Away, before I, screw this,” Isaac said as he threw the sword at Kai until he just caught it in his hand.
“Well, I guess I have nothing to lose,” Isaac said as he lunged himself towards Kai but he just pushed him down to the ground.
“I guess I should finish my speech even though this is quite funny. You’re not immortal, I meant if others were around you they can save you. That’s why I picked this lonely place, at this time. If I just waltzed into your apartment everyone would just throw me out as they would turn into powerful beings not even a death god can handle. So any last words before I banish you from this realm?”
“Gah,” Isaac yelled as his head was receiving pain and he saw the sword in it.
“Close enough to a reaction,” Kai said as he lifted up the sword and plunged it down, just to see Isaac has dodged it.
“More from you. Bah,” Kai said until Isaac kicked the sword from his hand.
Isaac rushed toward the sword and nearly missed it as he threw himself towards it.
“So, any last words when I banish you from this realm?” Isaac said as he lifted the sword up (an inch).
Kai just held out his dagger and beckoned him. Isaac trudged the sword along and as he got closer to Kai he felt something, something from his head, it wasn’t a scratch nor a stab, it was just his mind clearing up. Along with that, he felt the sword just rise up with little power neeed to hold it up. The sword started to glow and become white and so did he.
“Wait a minute, I’ve heard about this before,” Kai and Isaac both said at the same time.
“It’s Illumnia, it’s supposedly cuts through anything it touches and is made of the light from everyone. So that means,”
“You seriously can banish me from this realm,” Kai said with a faint of worry in it’s voice.
Isaac decided to use his new sword and cut a piece of the wall to make sure it works.
“So I guess you start running,” Isaac said.
“I never thought this was possible. But I guess I have to do this,” Kai said as he drew some energy away and made his body a dark red. His body was flashing and Isaac heard a beat.
“You-you didn’t just make yourself a timeb-”
“Indeed I have. In one minute both your hope and mine are gone. So run if you dare, you can’t escape now.”
Isaac knew that even in this form, he couldn’t fight Kai. He decided to do the same thing Kai did and as he focused deeply, he felt Illumnia’s power seeping into him and the sword turned back into the same artifact as before. Isaac turned purely white and turned into an entity some would call,”Light God”.
“You can’t defeat me no matter what form,” Kai said as he trudged towards Isaac.
“I know, not without time on my hands,” Isaac said as he rushed towards Kai and as Kai tried to push him back a flash happened.
IV: The Guardian of Early Earth
As Isaac opened his eyes he saw the Earth as it was 4.25 billion years ago. Just some uninhabitable piece of crust. Isaac, with only little power to survive this deadly climate he focused his power once more and created a beam of light from his hands towards the center of the Earth.
“Hopefully this will do good for everyone,” Isaac whispered to himself as he slowly disintegrated into the Earth.
So ends the tale of Isaac James, Guardian of light as he took himself into the center along with the darkness and formed a neutrality. No darkness, just the in between. Everyone still has their individual light and darkness within but none of it goes to the deeper threat. He locked any other threat of the darkness escaping and so life lives on just as normal. Just the way it should be, in balance.
