The Clown

The Clown
”Mom! Come quick!”. Anna screamed.
I ran up the stairs to her bed room.
”What is it Anna!”. I asked concerned.
”He was here mom! I swear he was here!”. Anna said.
”Anna, you had another nightmare. There's no one in here.”
”I’m not lying mom! I saw him! It was the Clown!” Anna desperately yammered.
”It’s okay hunny, there is no one here, just go back to sleep.”. I convinced Anna.
I walked down the stairs again and went into my husband’s room.
”Was it the clown nightmare again?” He calmly asked.
”Yeah. She has had these nightmares for months. I don't know what to do, Chris. Maybe we should have her see a psychologist”.
”Well that will have to wait, because I have great news! I’ve ordered flight tickets for Italy! Just the two of us so we can spend a little time together relaxing.”
“I don’t know about that. We can’t just leave Anna. What if she gets the nightmare about the clown again?”.
“Don’t worry, I'll hire a babysitter”, Chris said.
The babysitter had arrived and we were off to the airport. The plane had finally landed in Italy and suddenly my phone rang. It was the babysitter.
“Hi Sarah. Can I please throw out Anna’s clown doll. It’s really scary and its almost like it’s staring at me..”
I almost dropped the phone. It wasn’t a nightmare. There really was a clown. Anna had been telling the truth all along. “You need to get Anna and get out of the house as fast as possible. NOW”. It went silent for a few seconds but then I heard a loud scream. Everything was quiet after that until I heard another scream. It was Anna. I told my husband about what I had just heard and we took the first flight back. We got into our house and walked up the stairs.
I screamed. What I saw was horrifying. The babysitter laid on the floor with her throat cut. She had a clown face painted on her. Beside her there was written in blood “Do you believe in ghost stories”. Anna was gone.
