Dear Diary,
My name is Brooke; it was my first day back to school. I walked the corridors, people were surrounding me. I followed my friends into our class. I stumbled in nerves, everyone laughed. I felt so alone, so humiliated. All I ever wanted was to fit in. I felt so lost for so long, my world around me was crashing down and I couldn’t stop it but things changed. One day he walked in..
‘’ So how was your summer holidays?’’ asked Emily.
’’ They were okay I guess, me and Robbie broke up but it was for the best.’’ Brooke replied softly.
‘’ I’m sorry to hear that, but I see you’ve still got a smile on your face? Is there someone new?’’
‘’ Well I started to talk to this boy, he’s called Mario. I never spoke to him really till now, but we’ve become really close. ‘’
‘’ I think I’ve seen him around school before, let’s make this term a good one! No more embarrassing moments, we are going to shine and show them what we are made of! Not let anyone get us down.’’ Emily insisted.
Emily walked off to her lesson, and Brooke stood with her head held high. Brooke had dark secrets she kept away, things she felt like she couldn’t talk about to anyone, even her best friend Emily. The bell went. Brooke rushed to her music lesson. No-one knew Brooke could sing except herself and her music teacher Mr Taylor. She found comfort in music and found it as a way of expressing herself. Brooke was always shy and scared of what people thought of her, she didn’t want to stand out and be the centre of attention.
‘’ Brooke, you are very talented you’ve got to let yourself grow as a person, and find yourself. When you find something you love to do, you have to grab it with both hands and never let it go. Don’t be afraid to fail at first, because we learn from our mistakes. You need to build your confidence and when you do that, that’s when you can reach your full potential.’’ My Taylor said confidently.
Brooke rushed off as quickly as her feet could carry her. She walked down the corridor. There he was standing, Mario.
‘’ Hiya Brooke, how was your summer? Fancy meeting up next weekend?’’ said Mario.
Brooke stood there nervously in shock; she couldn’t believe someone like him would come up to her whilst he was with his friends.
‘’ Hello, it was okay thank you, and yeah that would be great!’’ replied Brooke.
‘’ Okay so, Saturday? Text me when you’re ready to meet?’’
‘’ Yeah that’s fine, will see you then.’’ Enthusiastically she replied.
It came to Saturday; she met him in the park. He was sat there on the swing, and as she saw him she had a smile on her face.
‘’ Hello there stranger, thought you were about to stand me up.’’ He said softly.
‘’ No of course not, sorry I’m late.’’
They both sat and talked for hours, about their summer. Brooke couldn’t stop smiling. She felt something she had never felt before. He hugged her, and promised her he was never going to leave her side and that they would be friends forever. Weeks later they became closer and closer and feelings became involved. They were inseparable, and spent all of the time they could together, they were both so caught up in each other.
Mario messaged Brooke.
Brooke, we’ve become so close and you are my best friend. I don’t know how to say this but, I like you and I have for a while. I guess I was just too afraid to tell you.
Brooke messaged back.
I like you too, you mean alot to me. You make me so happy and make me smile. I just didn’t tell you because I thought that you wouldn’t feel the same. I get these butterflies in my stomach when I see you..
Brooke hesitated to send it; she sat there staring at her phone. She rapidly pressed the send button. Over time they started to drift apart, and Brooke missed him. She no longer knew how Mario felt but her feelings never changed.
‘’ You okay Brooke, you look upset?’’ Emily asked sympathetically.
‘’ yeah I’ll be fine, just weren’t the fairytale ending I was looking for.’’
The next day Brooke sadly walked down the corridor, she made eye contact with him. He just stared for a while then walked away. She doubted if what he said was ever true, but she knew her feelings were pure. You could see Brooke’s heartbreak, but she knew that maybe it wasn’t the right time. She would never forget him because she gained the best memories ever, ones that she’d never forget despite the bad ones to come.
She stood and questioned herself.
‘’ Was it love?’’..
