EARLY DEMISE

EARLY DEMISE

EARLY DEMISE.

It was early morning, apart from a few shining stars and a diminishing moon, the black color of sky is fading under its blue color. The air was cold and calm, yet soothing.

It had been 6 in the morning, when she opened the door and came out in the balcony. With her coffee mug in one hand and newspaper in the other, she sat on the couch. She felt shivers for a while, yet exhausted as she didn't sleep the whole night. Her mind was full of wiggling thoughts, which made her indulge into them.

She flew into her past. And she found herself a 16 year old girl. She saw her parents persuading her to marry a 26 year old divorced man. She saw herself thinking about the boy, thinking about her sisters who were yet to marry, her mother who was pregnant and her father, her hero, whom she thought the bravest man in the world. And then she saw herself telling her mother ‘yes, I do.’

She flew some months forward in her memories. The wedding had happened. The boy seemed to be very attractive and handsome for her. She saw a girl, almost 16 years old, married to a 26 year old divorced man, thinking about her happily ever after married life. When she was watching herself there, she thought how oblivious she was! How immature!

The road across the garden was now teeming. She took a sip of her coffee which felt a little cold to her throat, yet she gulped it. She again involved in her memories. Now, she was some years forward, yes, she was a 20 years old lady now, yet didn't have any child. The man, whom she had found her prince charming, now resembled a man who was self-obsessed and a person who was only obligated towards his wife. She found her parents as blood traitors. She thought they deceived her and made her jump into this hell. She found her mother-in-law cursing, as she didn't give them a single child. She found herself totally helpless and alone.

The black clouds had returned to the sky now and the air had become colder, like her feelings, like everything she had in her life.

She was 22 now. She found herself in a hospital room. She had a daughter. She saw herself holding her daughter, viz. gazing at her face, holding her small hands in her hands, feeling her every breath, every gesture and she saw herself on cloud 9. Her husband became more careful about her and his daughter now. But everything seemed to be cold and numb.

The feelings were dry for her now. She was done over everything. What happened to her in those 7 years, without any child, without her husband’s support and with her cursing mother-in-law was mundane for her now. She was only left with a woman without feelings, apart from loving her two daughters, who can only try to love her husband.

The rain had been started. She looked up, to almost blackened sky and felt the raindrops on her face. The droplets seemed to be tears to her, on her early demise. She smiled, yet found her crying inside, took her mug and went inside the house.
