The Gun Runner
Born 1998, M, from North Walsham, United KingdomChapter 1 - Saturday 25th March 1989 …
It was the day of the family reunion and the whole of the Jackson family were meeting up at the boathouse. Blake hadn’t been to the boathouse for 20 years and hadn’t seen his family since he got married in 1987. Him and his wife had two children and they were living in the suburbs' of Boston in a 3 bedroomed apartment. Blake loved hunting and was a master of the gun. The party had being organised by Blake and his father who helped him practice his shooting as he grew up. Apart from Grace, Jakey and Rob, his father was the most important person in his life.
In the main city of Boston, Jack Hall had built his company from nothing and he too had a wife and 2 children. He sold stolen vehicles for the criminal underworld and the F.B.I had been watching him for 5 months now. Blake worked for the F.B.I and was also watching Jack but he had gone undercover as an unknown local resident.
Unaware to Blake, he had tripped over a wire outside Jack’s Building as Tommy, Jack’s Son, was coming out and it had … DROPPED 5 TONNES ON TOP OF HIM! Jack soon realised what was going on. He decided to use all of his contacts to find and kill the unaware Blake.
Back at the family reunion the BBQ was getting lit and the party was just getting started. A Jackson party was definitely one you could never forget. And this one was no exception!
Landing in the local airport was a private plane that was owned by Jack Hall and it was full of his Gun Runners ready to strike down Blake. Jack’s cover story was that he owned a house renovation company and he had renovated the old Jackson boathouse some time ago. This meant that he knew where and when he would go and it gave him the perfect opportunity to kill him.
Soon after landing, the Gun runners arrived at the old boathouse and they were being deafened by the loud music and singing coming from the party. It was at this point that they changed the plan and decided to kill Blake's family like he did to Jack. The first gunshot was sounded and it made everyone duck below the tables except Blake’s father who was willing to stand up for his family with his trustworthy Magnum P60 at his side.
That was their first target and within seconds of him pulling out his gun he lay dead on the floor after being shot twice in each leg. This sent Blake over the edge so he rose to his feet picking up the gun on his way and shot down 2 of the Gun Runners with only one single bullet. Under strict instruction they weren’t allowed to kill Blake, till he had seen everyone that he loved die. The leading runner shot down his Mother, Auntie and Uncle and then he threw a bomb to blow up the boathouse which took out his cousins and grandparents. Grace told Jakey and Rob to run out to sea and get the coast guard for help but when they got there he wasn’t on duty. They hid behind the Jetty and watched their relatives get shot down innocently. They thought that both their mum and dad had died so they got up to face a gang of the Gun Runners who had seen them leave. And the final gunshots were heard …Blake ran out to the Jetty to find his children and saw their corpses’ lying there. He fell down to his knees and wept tears that created a small puddle on his lap. He saw a black SUV pull away from the boathouse just 200m away from him with the letters JH07 and he knew he had seen the same initial somewhere before. It was the same SUV he had run away from when he tripped over the wire and he got chased down the street and he instantly knew who killed his family.
Chapter 2 - Monday 27th April 1989 …
Soon after leaving the boathouse Blake had arrived back in Boston, after being taken to a local hospital for a medical overview after the incident. When he left the hospital he sold his house and decided to use the money he got to take revenge on Jack Hall for the grief he had caused him.
He was going to work under the name The Gunner and whenever he was near he would protect those closest to him. He had left his job at the F.B.I and he went to receive some training from his fathers’ old gun-trainer, Shot, who taught Blake how to use guns to an expert level. When he decided he was ready, he set out to look for criminals on the street that he could apprehend. It had only been 4 weeks since the incident and although he was ready to fight crime in a different way he still didn’t forget about the revenge he had to take on Jack Hall. He had bought some body armour for protection against those who tried to fight back and defend themselves. But there was no stopping The Gunner. He decided to work his way though the criminal underworld until he had a clear shot at Jack Hall.
Chapter 3 - Friday 1st May 1989 …
Having put his past behind him he had taken out 15 of the cities’ most wanted and he wasn’t going to stop there.
Blake had started to realise that they had better technology than him and they would soon be able to beat him and end his quest for revenge. Blake loved making electrical contraptions when he was younger and he once made plans to create an Iron Man like suit that he could use himself.
Although he left the F.B.I he asked if he could borrow some equipment for building something really amazing and when they asked him what for he stood there silently then burst out with “Plane jumping!”
He returned to his apartment in the suburbs of the city and he got to work building his suit of titanium armour ready to fight the rest of the criminals off with.
Chapter 4 - Tuesday 5th May 1989 …
It took him nearly a week and a half to complete the building of his new suit but when it was finished he went out to test it on the streets of Boston. He had installed a 500 horsepower set of jets into the boots so he could fly away from any threat at any point. They were powered by an electrostatic receptor imbedded into the suit.
When he got into the air he realised that the suit wasn’t very easy to control and soon he was hovering on the water of the old harbour. Blake said “Whoa, I need to watch where I’m going or I could injure an innocent person.” Soon however he was back to flying and had a straight course to the centre of the city. On his sweep of the city he saw a young woman getting mugged just as she left the east wing of the city hospital so he flew down and apprehended the mugger using the electrostatic conversion chamber in his gloves. With one bolt of electricity it knocked him clean off his feet and in no time the young woman had her bag back. Just before Blake was going to take him to Boston PD he saw the initials ‘JH’ on a patch sewn on to his jacket. “I knew I would find someone eventually!” he said in a sinister voice.
When the mugger woke up he was hanging from the hospital’s helicopter pad and The Gunner was standing in front of him.
“Who are you!” asked the mugger and in a sinister voice Blake replied “I’m the Gunner”. He said “Where is your boss? I want to see him?” and as fast as he could the mugger pointed to the tallest building in Boston.
Chapter 5 - Wednesday 6th May 1989 …
After making some adjustments to the suit, like the muggers guns built into the arm section, Blake flew off in to the distance and towards Boston’s tallest building gaining more and more momentum as he flew. Revenge was waiting and Blake wasn’t one to be late. As he approached the building he had a choice how to get in. Did he break through the window, Walk through the front door or smash through the roof? He decided to go through the roof and so hovering over it he targeted the main office of Jack Hall and just as he looked like he was going to flee the scene he turned and at amazing speed he smashed through the brick work right in front of Jack.
“Who are you!?” Jack said looking worried.
With a grunt the visor covering Blake’s face lifted revealing his true identity. “You!” Jack said…
“You will pay for the grief you caused me Jack! I have had to track you down and go through half of the criminals in the city to find you.” said Blake.
Jack came back with the comment “Well, I did to you what you did to me. It’s just revenge!”
“I didn’t kill your whole family, but I am considering it now you murderous criminal.” Blake replied.
He lowered his mask and engaged his jet boots and at furious speed he flew straight at Jack flinging him out of the window. He caught him and hung over the city below. Again Blake had a choice, did he drop Jack to his death or take his revenge nice and slowly? Before he could choose Jack had kicked his boots too much and the cable connected to the Electrostatic Receptor had disconnected. The boots suddenly stopped and they both started to fall. As the little black dots started to turn into people Jack kicked the boots again reconnecting the wire and powering up the jets. In the nick of time they started to hover up high once again. Blake had decided to take his revenge nice and slowly so he flung Jack back through the window and flew into the distance without anything said…
Chapter 6 - Thursday 7th May 1989…
In the day that had remained Blake had set targeting beams from the F.B.I laser satellite at each of the Hall family homes and at the main building in Boston.
The Gunner suit was built around Blake and he shot to the skies and towards Jack’s building. The window had been patched up but it was no match for Blake and he smashed through it causing splinters of wood to cover the floor. There stood Jack who was waiting for Blake who had realised that the satellite was targeting his building. He didn’t realise about the other targets and Blake wasn’t going to tell him. Out of nowhere Jack threw a grenade towards The Gunner’s suit and it just bounced off out of the window and exploded destroying 10 windows on the 3 floors below. Again Blake grabbed Jack even though he tried to run away and set him down in the centre of the city.
“I won’t kill you, but you will do this!” said Blake removing the suit of armour. “You know I targeted your building, but what about all the Hall family homes. You can use my suit of armour to save who you want but it isn’t fast enough to save everyone.” Blake continued…
Jack threw on the suit in rage and anger. He flew off to save his family just as the lasers powered up. He managed to save his second son, mum and dad until the rest of the family were… STRUCK!
Struck like unpredicted lightening, but this wasn’t the end for Blake because he knew Jack wouldn’t return the suit so he pulled out a remote detonator from his denim pocket and when he saw Jack shoot to the skies, he exploded the suit and that was the end of him. The shrapnel from the suit was falling on to the city so he activated his electromagnet that was built into an indestructible case and it collected the shards of metal into a neat and tidy ball that slammed to the ground creating a small crater. The whole city stood in shock watching the last of the smoke float away.
Once again Blake was at peace and he could try to start to forget about the past and picture the up and coming future.
