‘What the hell happened to Homo Sapien Sapiens?’
Born 1999, M, from -, India.jpg)
The mechanical buzz was too much for him; the buzz that denoted that it was time to get a new update. But this buzz was different - was it a breach? A hope? As he started to walk away from the place, he could not help but wonder, ‘When did this all happen?? Are there any more people like me, stranded in the middle of technological junkyards, wasting away their days??’ His thinking was interrupted by a scurrying noise, as though someone, or something was running away. He braced himself for an attack, letting adrenalin into his veins, when a thought occurred to him, that it was impossible for Homo Sapien Evolutiss (the name of the new techno-organic beings) to stay away from the buzz; that they had to go and get their updates. A faint glimmer of hope rose in his eyes, but he quickly pushed that thought away. There was no point being optimistic about anything till one knew what was going on.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a Homo Sapien Sapein appeared. He was too shocked to believe his own eyes, and when he did, he saw that the latter was the same. Although he was suspicious about this person, he soon forgot about these doubts. They shared their ammunition, and disclosed their hideout locations. If any Homo Sapien Evolutiss were listening, they wouldn’t have had any trouble finding out about the last litre of oil, or the last few drops of water, and their locations.
A week or so had passed since the two had met. Any trace of suspicions had gone away, and the two were almost like brothers. They shared ammunitions, discussed battle strategies, and told each other about their various expeditions and adventures, and their imaginative views of how the world would have been if not for the virus that turned most of their race into techno-organic robots.
One night, while they were asleep at one of their locations, the man couldn’t help but feel anxious. He felt that something was about to happen, but didn’t say anything out of fear. Little did he know. Later that night, they were ambushed, the injuries were too much for the man, so, in his dying moments, the last thing he heard was his friend’s words, ‘This wasn’t part of the plan! You were supposed to kill him and let me go!’ and he couldn’t help but think, ‘What the hell happened to Homo Sapien Sapiens?’
