Raven has just arrived at her new house in Woodbury Connecticut. A small town with bright buildings near the side of the beach. Woodbury is best known for their home made berry pies. She had just finished unpacking and decided to walk around and figure where out where things in town were.

After dinner that night at home, where she had pizza with her parents, she had assembled her bag for school. As Raven woke up she had a strange feeling in her stomach. She felt as if someone had punched her several times. When she tried to explain it to her parents her mom said that she was just nervous. When Raven arrived at school she bumped into Jessica, a spoiled rich kid who always gets her way, also the most popular girl in school. She has long blond hair with blue eyes, she is 5’4 and weighs 102 pounds. As they both stood up Jessica turned around and yelled at Raven calling her clumsy and to watch out. She said “we don’t need any more people falling down because of someone clumsy like you". Before Raven could say anything Brogan came to help her. Brogan knows what it’s like to be different. She has always felt alone. Brogan grew up not knowing who her father is. She was brought up by her neighbor after her mother started drinking when her father left them. She had to raise herself from age ten. Brogan told Jessica to calm down. Jessica was so furious she stomped her foot and walked off. Jessica was livid because no one has ever talked to her like Brogan. Raven thanked her and walked off. Brogan ran to catch up with her. When Brogan reached her she introduced herself and asked if she needed someone to show her around. Raven smiled, Brogan had showed her where all her classes were. As they talked Raven started liking Woodbury. She was happy she had a friend on her first day.

When Raven arrived home she saw her mom sitting on the couch with a dull look on her face. Her mother was usually happy and always had a smile. Raven had waited to get home so they could talk about her day. Raven dropped her bag and ran to her mother. She tried shaking her to snap her mom back to normal, but it didn’t work. She would not move, it was like she was in a trance. She then called her father, he always knew what to do to help her. When he arrived from work he saw his wife sitting there lifeless. As he took a closer look he realized that they had lost her. She had no color in her skin and had no heartbeat. He looked at Raven and said “we lost her from a heart attack”. Raven ran to her father and buried her face in his chest and cried. That night she was unable to sleep, she was tossing and turning thinking of her mother.

When Raven arrived at school she went to her locker to get her math book. She went to school because she thought if she went on with her day maybe she won’t feel as depressed about her mother’s death. As she closed her locker Alec was standing there. He startled her, she dropped her books. Alec was a rich kid who wanted to be treated normal, however he was angry all the time because people kept treating him like a god, and doing everything for him. People wanted Alec to like them so they would get him anything he needed and would offer to do his work. As they both went to grab her fallen books their eyes met. There was a spark. She grabbed her books and said “I have to go” and left to meet up with Brogan.

When Raven and Brogan arrived at Raven’s house Brogan had realized that her house was usually dark and had no mirrors. She thought nothing of it until she remembered the book she read featuring vampires. When Raven looked at Brogan she saw a puzzled look on her face. Raven had ignored it and brought Brogan to her room. Brogan was in shock, she had not realized what she had just said. Brogan just blurted out “I know you’re a vampire”. Raven dropped her books and looked at Brogan. Brogan looked her in the eyes and asked, “Are you a vampire”? Raven turned away and answered. ”I have tried so hard to be normal however you saw right through my act.” “How”? Brogan grabbed her bag and pulled out her book on vampires. She explained, at first I did not want to believe, however when I first met you I knew that there was something about you. Raven looked at brogan and said “you can never tell anyone”. Brogan said “I promise I won’t”. Brogan asked “how did you become a vampire”?

Raven sat down and said, "I was turned into a vampire at twelve. I was living in Bradford England, a beautiful town most famous for its museum, with my parents. One night I was out with some friends. We decided to go into an old house. The place was deserted for years, it had webs on every window. The house was in terrible condition. When we closed the door there were bats flying above us. I tried running as fast as I could although I could not lose them. I hid in a closet thinking I’d be safe. I felt something sharp bite my neck. When I saw the bat I ran out of the closet to my house. Later that night I started feeling different. When I looked in the mirror I noticed my teeth were sharp and pointed." Brogan looked shocked, she asked “do your parents know what you are?” Raven looked down and shook her head. Raven asked again if she could not tell anyone. Brogan said, “your secret is safe with me”. Brogan had not realized what she had involved herself in.

When Brogan arrived at school the next day she found Raven and explained to her that she felt like she was being followed. Raven turned around and mumbled “they found me.” Brogan looked worried and asked “who found you”. Raven said no one and walked away, she had no clue that Jessica was the person she was hiding from. Jessica was waiting for the right moment to get Raven. She knew if she took Brogan then Raven would go running to help her. That night Raven was out with Alec when she received a call from Jessica saying she had Brogan and if she did not come to find her then she would kill Brogan. Raven ran to find Brogan, she could not find her in town anywhere. It finely dawned to her that Jessica would have taken her to the woods. When Raven arrived to the woods she found Brogan tied to a tree. Raven tried to untie her, however Jessica shoved her into a tree. Raven got up and asked. “Why are you doing this”? Jessica laughed and said “you left me alone in that house to die”. Raven tried to apologize. Jessica said “it’s too late for sorry”. She told Raven “hope you’re ready to die”. Raven got up and ran towards Jessica.

As the sun was rising Brogan watched them fight. Raven knew that the only way she was going to kill Jessica was to snap her neck. She wanted to kill Jessica before she could kill her. Raven ran close enough to Jessica that she wrapped her hand around her throat and snapped her neck back. Jessica fell to the ground, Raven grabbed a match and tossed it on her body. Raven ran to untie Brogan, they ran out of the forest. Brogan thanked Raven for saving her. As they walked home Raven mumbled, "today’s the day I am finely free."

The Truth Behind The Moon finally came out, my best friend now knows I’m a vampire. Raven says “I can be myself and won’t have to hide anymore”.
