Salvation Through Jesus is Miraculous
Born 1948, M, from Johnson City, TN, United States© By Greg Miller
Professors at a Christian college decided to provide a free education to several students who were applying for admission.
One student was selected by means of a writing and thinking contest. The professors asked the students to write a one-word description of the salvation made possible by the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Participating applicants were asked to spend at least 10 hours thinking about their answers. They also were asked to show proof of their efforts by submitting worksheets listing a minimum of 20 words they had thought of for their entries.
Unknown to the professors, the Lord gave all students a dream prior to the day of the announcement of the winner. The dream showed Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, being beaten, mocked and crucified by Roman soldiers, his resurrection from the grave and the ascension back into heaven. To each dreamer, the heavenly father spoke the following words, “This is my beloved Son. He died on the Cross for you. We love you very much.”
On the evening the contest winner was to be announced, the professors threw a celebration party for all entrants. The event featured plenty of Christian music and good food.
After everyone had finished eating, one professor spoke about the importance of the availability of a good Christian-based college education. “More than ever before, it has become increasingly important to present the gospel of Christ from the platform of every Christian college around the world,” he said. “And the gospel must always be presented truthfully and with great excitement!”
At last, the time came to present the competition’s finalists. Participants had been given special paper and pens for the project. The red paper symbolized the blood which Jesus shed on the Cross. The red pens dispensed white ink, symbolizing the purity of the believer after his or her sins have been washed away by the blood of the Lamb of God.
Everyone clapped as Clarence declared his contest entry: “Wonderful!”
Corrine smiled at the judges as she exclaimed her entry: “Majestic!”
Chastity was certain her entry - “Fantastic” – would be the winner.
Camille wrote the word – “Beautiful!”
One by one, the remaining finalists stated their entries. “Loving!,” shouted Carson.
“Everlasting!,” proclaimed Cindie.
Cameron proudly announced “Magical” as his entry.
Constance chuckled at Cameron’s answer as she verbalized her own entry, which won the contest. “Magical is the only inappropriate response we’ve heard,” she said.
“Quite simply,” she continued, “salvation provided by Jesus is not magical at all. It’s Miraculous!”
