Mothers worked as manufacturers
Born 1981, M, from Tehran, Iran (Islamic Republic Of)Mothers worked as manufacturers
I was born after a surprising revolution. Nobody and no soul had the capability of digesting it. The Shah went out and Imam Khomeini entered, just a simple substitution which set the whole nation ablaze. Shah didn’t want to believe that his bubble of fantasy has been exploded. After some years while still carrying his title as the Iranian king, he died in his own solitude in another country.
Imam Khomeini did a lot, but the most important thing among them was a decree which caused lots of people like me to be born. According to him the number of Muslim Brothers was not enough so it was on each and every man to start a massive reproduction. People mesmerized by his charismatic features set out their holy duty. Lots of children were born in 1360 which is equal to 1981. Bearing a lot without rearing enough turned to a fashion. The population started “increasing”, better to say “soaring”, or maybe the mot juste would be “sky-rocketing”, “Wow” to the believers. But I was not born by any decree, of course; I was born because a drug didn’t work. I myself heard it when my mother was sharing some marriage experiences with my newly-wed sister. You know what; they didn’t want any child after 5 other ones. Yeah, I am the sixth one, so pretty populated a family; I was laid in my mother's womb after a Friday night random sex. Why a Friday night? Good question. In Iran, as we don’t like to be the followers of the world in anything; we have chosen our holidays on Thursdays and Fridays to prove that We are the pioneers of the earth. Of course, my mom got so sad when she found that I heard my haphazard story of production, but who cares, for me it was a variety, and as they say “variety is the spice of life”.
But the most important thing about this mass production was a saying, the cliché sentence which was repeated over and over in my country those days, the concept of sex was a sin in my country, so to avoid using this taboo S-word, parents would say that God gave us a new child. It was so funny because for years I was thinking about God and his generosity. And for years after I didn’t get the difference between my production story and Jesus’ one. If god gave him to his mother and he turned that much great, why wouldn’t I?
