What can I do?
Born 2000, F, from Drarga, MoroccoRachel's alarm clock rang at 7:30, it was the end of the summer holidays. she looked out the window, she was sure it was going to rain so she wore her thick jumper her friend gave her. they were friends since kindergarten and they are now in 9th grade.
"Come on Rachel! Breakfast's ready!" Her Mum called from downstairs.
After Rachel had breakfast, her friend, Emily, rang the doorbell. Rachel put her coat on and joined her friend.
"Come on slow coach!" Emily said, grabbing Rachel by her arm. They were just in time for the bus, there was no space for them to sit together so Rachel sat next to a girl that was deep in thoughts and looking out the window.
"Mind if I sit next to you?" Rachel asked. The girl shook her head and Rachel sat down. After a bit, Rachel turned to look at the girl beside her, the girl had tears rolling down her cheeks, Rachel pretended she never saw anything.
The two friends got off the bus and the girl followed, they got to their class and settled in their seats. The teacher came in and behind her was the girl that Rachel sat next to on the bus, Rachel was surprised.
"Good morning class, we have a new student starting with us today," the teacher said, all the students were looking at the girl, the teacher turned to the girl.
"Do you want to introduce yourself?" she asked. The girl nodded.
"I'm Alice, I hope we'll get on with each other." Alice sat in front of the two friends.
At lunch break, the girl came over and sat next to Emily. They talked to each other and became friends, they shared their food too.
It was time to go home, Rachel invited Emily and Alice over to her house and they both agreed. They raced each other and Alice won, she was a fast runner. Rachel opened the front door and they went inside.
Rachel's Mum greeted them in the hallway.
"Oh, hello. Come in and have dinner with us, I bet you're hungry," she said. She saw Alice. "And who are you? I've never seen you before." Alice was shy.
"I'm Alice and I'm new to this area and new in their school," she said.
After the girls had dinner, they helped clear up the table and went upstairs. They were exhausted and so they collapsed straight on Rachel's bed. They hid under the duvet and told each other scary stories.
"Emily? Who do you like best from your parents?" Rachel asked. Emily giggled.
"My Mum," she replied. "What about you?" she asked Alice. Alice's face dropped and and she started crying, the two girls exchanged glances and they hugged Alice.
"We're so sorry!" they said. Alice shook her head.
"Don't worry, it's just that I have a secret and whenever I think of it, it makes me cry," she said. The girls smiled.
"You can tell us if you like, we promise we won't tell anyone," they said. Alice was relieved.
"Well, my dad divorced my Mum and married another one, though she looks like a witch, she hits me and makes me do all the housework, she's very mean and tells me not to tell anyone and my Dad too."
The girls were shocked, they felt sorry for her.
"And now I'm scared to go home because she'll greet me with a smack."
"Don't worry, I have a plan, don't go home for a couple of days till your Dad comes looking for you, and when he does you can tell him why you pretended to run away, how about it?" Rachel asked. The girls thought it was a great idea.
Rachel told her Mum that Alice is staying for a couple of days because her parents had traveled, and her Mum agreed.
One week had passed and nothing happened, they were all upstairs playing games on the computer, it was Saturday and Emily came over to Rachel's. After a while, the doorbell rang. There was no one home so Rachel went to open the door, it was a tall man.
"I'm sorry for disturbing, but I'm looking for a girl named Alice, have you seen her?" he asked.
Rachel felt happy.
"Come in sir, I think we can help," she said, with a big grin. She led him to the living room and called for the girls, the man was puzzled. The girls came running and as soon as Alice saw her Dad, she rushed over and hugged him. he was surprised. Alice told him everything.
"Well, I'm shocked, I never knew anything and now that i do, I'm going to divorce her because she's been treating my precious daughter unkindly."
the girls were all happy for Alice.
It wasn't long before Alice's dad divorced, and guess what? He married Rachel's Mum and they were happy.
This took me 40 minutes to write, I hope you enjoyed reading.
