They Will Never Be Happy
Born 1993, F, from Singaraja, Bali, Indonesia.jpg)
I never know what my fault is. My life was perfect before, it was so beautiful and colorful, but now everything is different. I have lost the things that I love the most; the warmth that I used to feel, the laughter that I used to hear, and the romantic love story that I used to witness. Everything has gone because of a mistake. Whose? Not mine!!
I can clearly remember every single thing that happened that day. I was standing quietly with my friends when an attractive young girl touched my nose and pulled my big ears, “This one, what do you think?” she talked to a boy standing next to her. I looked at that boy; he was about 19 years old. “Do you like it?” he asked. The girl nodded and they took me away.
They took me to a place not far from my old house. It was a small room which was decorated beautifully. The walls were light green, the floor was white, and the ceiling was light brown. There was a bed in the center of the room and a table near it. The girl took me out from the plastic bag and put me on the table. She then turned to the boy and hugged him, “Thank you.” she said.
“You are welcome. I am glad I can give something to you.” The boy replied, “I really want to stay a little bit longer, but I have to go now. See you tomorrow at campus, Natria.” Oh, that girl’s name was Natria! “See you, Dika.” The boy’s name was Dika, hmm nice name. I wondered if Natria would give me a name.
Natria closed the door after Dika went out. She took me and wrapped my body with her soft arms, “Oh God, I really love him.”
The days passed by quickly. Dika visited Natria almost every day. Both of them looked so happy and I was never bored listening to their conversation. They always had interesting topics to talk about. I could feel that they were deeply in love.
Natria was a very caring person. She hugged me and talked to me every night, but at one of the cold nights in December, she entered her bedroom with teary eyes. I looked at those eyes and I could find anger and sadness, “What is wrong, Natria?” I asked her but nothing came out from my mouth.
She stood in silence for about three minutes, but it felt like years. I did not know what had happened to her. She looked so sad, disappointed, and angry. After rubbing her eyes, she walked toward me and pulled me to her chest. She hugged me tightly, “How could he do this to me?” she broke the ice. I felt my back wet with tears, she cried again! I really wish I could talk to her, comfort her, calm her down. If only I could talk, if only I were a human being.
“I hate him!!!” she suddenly screamed and threw me into her cupboard. It was so dark inside the cupboard. I was so scared; however I didn’t have time to think about my fear because I had something much more important to be concerned with. I could not see anything but I could hear even the slightest sound. Natria cried like a little child.
I heard the sound of a cell phone keypad, silence for a moment, then, I heard Natria’s trembling voice, “I never thought you would do this to me, Dika! No, you listen to me! I don’t need any explanation! I don’t buy your bullshit anymore! You have chosen that bitch, I accept it! No, don’t ever say sorry! Don’t ever think I will forgive you! Never!!” she cried again.
What the.....! Dika betrayed her? He broke her heart? How? Why? It was surely a misunderstanding! Dika would never do it, he loved Natria so much, I knew it, I believed it! I could no longer hear anything. Natria must have been asleep.
I did not know how long I had waited until the door finally open. Natria stood in front of me with anger and hatred in her eyes and scissors in her right hand. She stared at me sharply as if she wanted to kill me. She didn’t want to do it, did she? Oh no, wait! She couldn’t do it to me! She loved me!
“Die you bitch!!” she cried out furiously and she tore my clothes! She cut my ears, legs, and arms. “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you so much Dika!!!” She threw me to the cold white tiles and she stepped on my broken body again and over again. Finally she fell on her knees with tears racing on her cheeks, she was so broken and so was I. We cried together without saying anything. About two hours later she stood up and put me back in the cupboard, locked the door, and never opened it again.
That was so unfair to me. She hurt me just because the person who gave me to her broke her heart. It was not my mistake if he left her, “Let me out Natria! Please open the door!” I screamed at the top of my voice but of course she couldn’t hear me.
I was so angry and disappointed. I couldn’t feel the pain of being broken as I only felt the pain of being thrown away by the girl I really admired. Then I began hating her, that egoistic girl! I prayed day and night that she would never find someone to replace Dika. I think karma did its work well as she often woke up in the middle of night because of nightmares. She also liked to scream in frustration. She talked to the walls in her room about Dika and his miserable life. I got the satisfaction of seeing her like that. She and Dika, the coward, had to pay for what they had done to me. They would never be happy in this life because they had destroyed an innocent doll’s life.
