Alek and May
Introduction
There are an infinite amount of possibilities on how one may stumble across their true love. Some can be rare, extraordinary, unusual, but usually people don’t always end up with the one they want or the one made for them.
Every true love has a great story behind it.
Alek- Hey, I’m Alek. I saw your profile picture and was wondering if that picture was actually you because you are gorgeous.
May- umm… Yea that’s me. Thanks. :)
This is a story of how two lovers met…
“I’m going to kill you.” Alek screamed. The thought of May not alive anymore was going to eventually get him killed.
The thugs restrained him, lift him and slammed him against the wall. Keeping him under control by ceasing his arms, he struggled hard but he couldn’t act. A gunman walked up to him and reviled a magnum revolver.
Alek stopped struggling and closed his eyes. He knew it was time but he didn’t regret anything because he knew he tried.
…and how they died.
Alek was a twelve year old kid with an open heart and a small desire; to find a girl who he could love just as much as she would too. He didn’t know where how would find her or when he would find her but he wasn’t desperate. He always told himself that he would never rush in finding the right one and the girl that marries him will be the happiest soul ever.
Alek lived in the small town named Hayfield, which was embedded into a bigger town called Bluerock. He studied at Frankston middle school and was in grade 8.
Alek is a really crazy person; crazy as in someone who’d light someone’s grass on fire by accident. That’s exactly what he did and got in serious trouble by many. Alek is also really shy and quiet. It is always harder for him to get to know people and talk to them properly compared to others who would be able to do it easily. Alek is really, really careless. The things that made him careless also made him successful and brave. He performed many stunts and tricks putting his life at risk but not everything goes as planned. He had fractured several bones in his body and others. Overall he is an extraordinary person with an interesting personality.
May on the other hand is the total opposite, in many ways. She even lives on the opposite side of town. Flowerbay area which was on the end of the Hayfield where as Alek lived on the opposite end called Greenberry area.
In short days
A few days remained till the end of the tiring school year. Both Alek and May had the thoughts about not having to worry about getting ready for school so early every day. This year especially was exhausting for both.
In school Alek was unknown, but known; mostly everyone knew he existed but treated him as if he didn’t. For the past few weeks, Alek was starting to get to know his peers and was too making new friends as others. This is all due to the fact that he finally participated in a group at lunch and out of all to go along with, he was put into the tackle football group.
This happened a few weeks ago when a friend of Alek invited him to play tackle football with him and his friends at lunch. Alek was never sure about most of his decisions so he thought why start to think now and either way he couldn’t say no. Although he didn’t want to play he had to because he had lost a bet and this was his outcome.
“You’re going to die” Shin kept saying with a slight laughter.
Alek looked at him with a confused look. “Thanks?”
Without getting caught even due to supervision the group managed to play tackle football at lunch time. It could have also been the excessive amount of kids and/or group of kids also wandering around their playing area 24/7. Their school field was small and there wasn’t a lot of places to go during lunch so everything no matter where at lunch, was a filled playable area.
The group even had a few people who watched everyday as if it were a professional game. This too included Alek. He never asked to play and he never wanted to but he was sure they wouldn’t let him either way due to his physical appearance.
Alek had grown up in a harsh environment, looked slim and weak but judging by the cover isn’t a good habit. From being judged and left out in the beginning of the game, he went to being MVP at the end.
A group of 20 kids stood in a group and Alek was picked last. “Okay, I guess you’re on my team.” Luckily, Shin was on the same team and was known as a decent player. Alek stood beside Shin as all the players watched the two captains to see who would get first ball.
“Don’t worry man,” Shin said, “I’m going to give you a tip.” He lift his hand had pointed out a few people from the opposing team. “Try avoiding them. They really know how to take a guy down.”
“Screw that.” Alek immediately said. Shin turned over and looked at him. “What’s the point of the game if I avoid them?” Alek game a confident smile.
“Just don’t break something.” he requested.
Both teams went across to their side of the field. Alek’s team got first ball. “How come they took the ball? Wasn’t it ours?” Alek asked.
“It is ours. They have to kick it to us.” Shin explained. “As soon as the ball lands everyone will rush, and even those guys. All everyone has to do is get the ball, don’t drop it and take it past that net on the other side.” He explained.
“Sorry I never played football so…” he paused.
“It’s ok”
Alek walked over the captain and got his attention. “You mind if I just watch till someone gets the ball or gets tackled, or something?”
“Sure.” His attention span seemed really small and so he quickly turned back over to the other team who was ready to kick the ball. The length of the field was about 75 yards and so was the distance between the two teams at the moment.
Behind Alek’s team and past their goal area was a small hill that stretched across that side of the rectangular field. There were many people wandering around the field so what if someone gets tackled, Alek thought.
Alek went up the small hill and sat on top where he could get a good view of the field and the game. Sitting waiting for the game, there were others sitting on the hill on either side of Alek. Alek’s attention was bought back to the game when he heard his team sprint forward and as he turned around he saw the ball on the ground rolling and stumbling in a rand direction. It wasn’t long before one of Alek’s teammates got the ball and soon, tackled.
Alek now joining the game, was told as well as his teammates to run up as soon as the captain gives the call. As their team stood in a straight line beside the captain, the other team spread out. The intense yell from the captain send everyone running forward. Alek held his ground and was right by the captain.
The opposing team spread out behind every one of Alek’s teammates keeping them under control. The captain didn’t have any choice on who he should pass the ball to. He was determined but now confused on who to pass too. The opposing team’s defense was good and time was running out.
“Hey I’m open.” Alek said.
A disappointed look on the captain’s face showed as he turned. Everyone assuming it was a bad decision and the fans excitement going down he had no choice but to pass it to Alek.
He lightly tossed it over to Alek as he struggled to catch it and almost dropped the ball. Alek stood there with the ball totally blanked out not in any state to move. Everyone from the other team sprinted towards Alek as he stood there looking at the ball.
“Run.” The captain yelled.
The assumptions from his own teammates lead into no assistance towards Alek because they all thought he wouldn’t get far. Everyone form the opposite team sprinted towards Alek showing no mercy. Alek looked towards the fast approaching opponents as he got ready to run. His fast start quickly passed him most of the attackers and his own teammates.
The fans watching got excited as the new boy ran past everyone. Three guys surprisingly rushed towards him from in front as he closed the goal post. His teammates were shocked on the fact that he had don’t better than most people on their first try, or ever. Passing the 40 yard distance, he saw the 3 closing in fast and one close enough he saw him dive. As he tried to run past the three one of the jumped onto Alek slowing him down and the other did the same as well, as did the other too. The three restrained him or tried as he pulsed towards the goal post. He was a few yards away before he stopped as he heard one of his teammates yelling to pass the ball. He released the merciless grip of the 3 guys and managed to pass the ball to his teammate who also managed to get them a point.
Alek just showed how fast and resistant was. There was nothing no one should not be impressed about.
It was now Alek’s teams turn to kick the ball towards the other team and Alek was chosen to kick the ball. He tried passing the decision but was told to and had no choice.
All his teammates watched him close as he kicked. The ball flew high in the sky until gravity brought it back down. It had hit the ground pretty far that it looked as if it would. As everyone ran for the ball a kid stood out running a few meters in front of everyone from the other team and as he went for the ball, everyone from Alek’s team ran towards him. He moved swiftly and was pretty smooth with the motion of picking up the ball but still keeping his pace.
There were many unsuccessful attempts from Alek’s teammates trying to take the other player down. He winded through everyone and was almost at his goal when Alek came up from behind him. Alek wasn’t as fast as the kid. If he didn’t do anything the kid would get the score. Alek make a quick decision and dove towards him and latched onto his back. It looked as if Alek was getting a ride on his back but not long after, the kid lost his balance and was taken down harshly. Both of them stumbled and fell out of bounce onto the dirt landing far from the critical position
It was later Alek found out that, the kid he tacked got a broken arm. It was told, it were an accident but there were a lot of people who knew what had actually happened. It was then when Alek found out, he tackled one of the best football players who played provincially. Although he was in grade 8, he was known as the best and played like the best. Since that day everyone was after Alek and especially trying to be like him.
It was almost the end of the year and Alek was starting to get to know people. He wasn’t happy of the fact that he was going to a different school as most of the people in his school. Since Alek lived in a different side of the school’s boundaries, he would be going to a different school as most of the kids in the same grade.
May on the other hand was tired of getting too noticed. She tried isolating herself from mostly everyone except her best friends. Her thought and perspective of popularity was so much different from Alek’s.
There were some similarities though. She too lived on the isolated side of her school’s boundaries which meant she would be going to a closer school next year which Alek was too going to next year. Although she would be going without any of her good friends she wasn’t too sad because she was looking forward to making new and quiet friends. The popularity had started bothering her for a while and it was about time that she could change herself altogether.
The same thought occurred Alek’s and May’s head over and over: since they both would be going to a different school as everyone else, then why not keep in touch with them.
***
It was the same old boring walk home for Alek everyday afterschool. He lived about 2 kilometers from school and he always walked by himself.
No matter how close you get with someone, they can never always be with you, he thought.
“That’s until I find her.” He said to himself.
Alek often said stuff out loud to himself without knowing. He never knew how to control that and would often get in trouble for speaking the truth.
Throughout the whole walk home he would think about ‘her’ and often said stuff out loud. As he neared his house a voice from behind him spoke up. “So who do you like?”
Alek immediately turned around in shock and now looking at a young girl from his class. “Jen? What are you doing?” he questioned still in shock.
Jen was in the same class as Alek I grade 6 and 8. She was a shorter that Alek by a bit and had blonde hair. Her characteristics were just like Alek’s but exceeded in some parts. She would often try to get noticed and try to make new friends. Although she tried a lot, she wasn’t good at it at all. She too was really shy at school. She often did make new friends but not for too long. It was only because of the fact she was really shy even though she tried not to be.
“I walk home the same way but today I just kept my pace behind you.” She explained. “You seemed to be saying stuff to yourself and I wanted to know.” She asked.
“Know what?”
“Who you like?”
“I don’t like anyone.”
“…but I heard you saying stuff about the girl you like.”
Alek paused for a moment before answering. “I don’t even know you well. How can I just tell you?”
Jen broke into pieces emotionally. She really liked Alek and wanted to tell me many times but was always too scared. “Because I am your friend… now?” She finally said.
“You know that doesn’t change anything?”
“…but are we friends.” She often took pauses between words.
“Yea.” Alek said immediately. “Of course, don’t worry. When I get to know you soon enough, you’ll know me well too.” He smiled. “Soon.” Alek turned back around and took off waving bye.
Jen remained at her spot recalling the moments just passed and looked at Alek jogging away. As he starting disappearing in distance, a few people saw Jen and ran towards her. Jen remained, looking straight ahead with nothing on her mind but the remaining thoughts about Alek.
They approached Jen slowly and circled her stopping her before she could snap out of her moment and take action.

May starting setting up her accounts online as did Alek. Neither of them had every talked socially. It was new for both of them. They had not ever made any socially active accounts accept their emails which they both never used. In other words, they were doing better than the kids at their school. The kids that aren’t influenced socially online are the best but the most vulnerable.
You never know who you can stumble across the internet.
It was Alek’s first time using twitter as so was May’s. Both confused and lost, Alek ended up surfing the internet for his favorite stars and eventually ending up finding girl who would change his life forever.
As soon as Alek saw May’s profile picture, he knew the joy he was having couldn’t be nothing but love. There stood May in her picture smiling at the camera as her beautiful blue eyes distracted the viewer. Her curly hair flowed naturally. Her mocking lips which was making her face seem childish. She wore a purple dress with yellow shoes and a stunning scarf.
Alek’s eyes widened as he tried to take it all in. It was a while after when he snapped out of it and figured out how to message her privately.
Alek- Hey, I’m Alek. I saw your profile picture and was wondering if that picture was actually you because you are gorgeous.
May didn’t take long to reply back.
May- umm… Yea that’s me. Thanks. :)
- by the way, my name is May. Whats yours?
Alek- I’m Alek. And your most welcome.
May- Your nice. :)
Alek- I’m being honest.
May- Guys always say that. I don’t believe you.
Alek- You will soon.
***
May- Are you serious? I live on the other side of town. WHAT school do you go to?
Alek- Yea, I’m in grade 8 too. I go 2 franston middle school.
May- That’s not that far away from my school. WAIT! IF you’re in 8? Then will u be at Middlestrikers High school?
Alek- YEA I AM. You’re coming there too? Please tell me you are.
As this moment passed Alek thought about how this could even be real. How he might get to see her. Even talk to her and to the best, ask her out.
Throughout the conversation Alek had been falling and falling for her more and more. He didn’t know if his love was getting bigger or he was just going crazy but he was almost sure.
Alek’s heart raced as he waited for her to reply. The intense feeling dropped him to his knees staring dead at his computer.
“I just love you.” He kept saying
May- Yup. I am. :) YAY. Cant wait to see you!!
It was this very moment where Alek knew he just turned crazy. “I can eat this whole house. RIGHT NOW!”
***
Days passed by quickly and both Alek’s and May’s plans for keeping in touch wasn’t working with their friends. They would look forward to talking to each other which they did day and night. Alek was starting to say things out loud and even notice it. Both of them would day dream about their conversations, mostly Alek.
A day of school remained and all classes got ready to enjoy. A potluck took place and a party in each class of both middle schools.
Alek tried to pay attention to others as much as he could but for the past few days and couldn’t hold a conversation long at all. He would often end a conversation with an awkward ‘ahhhh’ and then blank out.
May on the other hand wasn’t that distracted and enjoyed her last days at school with her friends and teachers.
Both schools had switched lunchtime towards the end of the day and no one disliked this decision
For Alek’s school, just as the final bell for the summer vacation rang, the custodians stood on the school rooftop throwing down all the balls that’d accidently been thrown up there.
As most kids went for the thrown balls and some gathered around the bottom of the school waiting for more, Alek stood in the far back of the field hoping for nice custodians who would notice him. Surprisingly one did notice him and had a basketball in his hand at time. Instead of that he threw the basketball a bit far from Alek and as everyone was distracted, the custodians picked up a baseball and chucked it towards him.
Today was one of the best day for Alek; he had loads of fun, made friends into best friends and won a baseball.
May’s school had everything Alek’s school held today except for the fact that there would be custodians who would give them something to play with for the summer.
As the final bell rang, May hung around with her friends saying her goodbyes.
Without actually saying it, but doing the action of waving bye, she walked home fast, crying. After all, there was a reason to. It hurt her leaving her best friends and the fact that hurt her even more was that she might never see them again. She couldn’t stop recalling the words ‘never again’ in her head. As she walked home by herself, she noticed the negative thoughts she was having wasn’t going to change anything. Something that never stuck with her was determination. Then she thought about how it would be a new start and a new her. From this moment on she was going to change, she thought and then kept repeating the words in her head. “Determination, Faith, Love.”

RIGHT NOW!”
