There once was a King and Queen
Who lived in a castle, with their daughter Jean.
She wandered off into the woods one day,
Where her parents told her not to play.
She just wanted to go to the park
And would try to be home before dark
On her way, she saw her friend Lee
Instead of going to the park, they went and played by the big tree
As the moon came and the sun went away
They both promised to come back the next day
Lee said he would walk Jean home,
For she was afraid to be in the dark alone
But tonight he said he could not
“My parents are home, I don’t want to get caught!”
With a frown on her face, Jean said “Okay.”
And the two children went on their way
Jean, now walking down the dark path
Listening to the wind and its wrath
As it yells at the trees
Blowing around the leaves
Forcefully knocking her down
She heard a strange sound
That seemed to come from all around
When the wind decided to rest
Fearfully, she slowly looks left
Afraid of what she will see
And what it might be
Suddenly, a noise to the right
And a black figure caught her sight
Running, running, as fast as she can
She sprints past a bush and something grabs her hand
Without looking back, she jerks away
And continues to run down the steep brae
From the bottom of the hill, she can see a light
Shining from her castle to guide at night
She ran home as fast as she could
Not even looking back to where the woods stood
Her parents were sobbing on the floor
But when Jean opened the door
Those sad tears, turned to tears of joy
The King and Queen hugged Jean and said
“Listen to us, next time. Don’t be a hard-head.”
