Forcing the Memories Back
Born 1996, M, from St.Charles, United StatesI kept walking forward. Walking in a daze. My vision was just clear enough so I could recognize the path. My two friends, Marcus and Cameron, had me on their arms and were helping me towards the car. My body burned and was immensely sore. The pain was excruciating and completely unbearable. I tried to remember what had happened just minutes before... Tried to remember what had caused this to happen to me. As I tried to move the memories around and connect them to get the full story they would just blur and be mangled. Finally I remembered something of slight importance. A memory flashed and I saw my friends and I were running down the path we were now on but going the opposite direction. Marcus tripped and scratched his leg but immediately shrugged it off, desperately wanting to get to his location. My head burned and the memory flashed away but I tried as hard as I could to keep it going. My brain pounded against my skull as I did it but I kept the moment going. Cameron and I were now way ahead of Marcus and standing in front of a medium cliff edge. Staring down off of it into what looked like a very deep lake. We were mesmerized by the water as it glistened in the moonlight. It sparkled as if a million tiny diamonds were spread across its surface. Then we heard Marcus running up behind us. He was coming our way pretty fast and we weren't paying attention when he tried to stop. He stopped instantly causing him to trip over his own foot... Causing me to fall over the edge. The memory flashed away again as I fell to the ground. Cameron had set me against the car and was now opening the door. I kept the memory going and saw that now I was hanging over the cliff holding on by one hand! Cameron and Marcus were struggling to pull me up. I didn't notice at first but now I did, I was unconscious, making it twice as hard to pull me back over. Finally when they managed the strength to get me up I was unconscious and my skull was cracked. They put both my arms over their necks not wanting to wait any longer to get me help. We hurried down the path and then Marcus blurted out "guys do u see that"? Cameron stopped and turned his head. What he saw made him want to run even faster. There was a shed that looked hidden within the brush. One of its doors was half open and what was concealed inside was demented. Bodies... hung from meat hooks, completely covered in blood. They were completely frozen with fear and couldn't move an inch... Until they heard the gunshots. They heard multiple shots and the phrase, "Don't run, I need to add you to my collection"! Upon hearing that Cameron and Marcus turned and flew down the path. The memory faded and now we were speeding increasingly faster down the road as a car followed close behind. The car rammed into ours causing us to thrust forward. Cameron slammed on the gas making us go faster and faster. The car hit us again, this time causing us to swerve. Up ahead a sharp curve was coming. Cameron took this opportunity and tried to swerve him off but it had negative consequences. When Cameron swerved the car we spun out and went hurtling towards the curve. The car behind us turned perfectly and made it out safe as we fell thousands of feet.... To our deaths!
