Walking Down The Lane

By Kankhal Banerjee
Born 1976, M, from Maharashtra, India
View Author Profile

Walking down the lane beside you,
White kurta with a blue jeans as my favorite, you with violet salwar with a glitter side back.

I belong to the last part of my teen, You at it’s early Stage
My Money purse is full of Bus Tickets and rough pages,
Not enough space to carry any cash, 10 Rupees note kept aside
At my side pocket that’s Why,
You also complimenting that, with 100 Rupee at your small white money purse.

My Sleeper of Bharath Shoes seems to be at the last stage of its life.
Last 1 & half hour we are together from Esplanade till Gariahut,
Bedwin egg rolls have been held tightly, knowing that after finishing mine I will conquer some portion of yours also
You stoppage is Jadavpur just 20 minutes distance from Kasba where I reside.

We wait for a taxi with black glass to know each other intimately for some minutes.
Most of the halfway returning from your stoppage passed turning my head at that empty stoppage.
Have spent 5 Rupee at a public booth sharing the moments once again with you.

Driving on HighWay at some other City with 2000 green paper at my bag, instead of 10 rupee, Bharath has been replaced by redtape or Mochi and kurta with Arrow or Lui Philips.
Staring all the Fiat taxis instead of ambassador passing by and smiling to those couples who are still at Chappals with Kurta and Jeans …………….
