Storm Trapped

Storm Trapped

Small droplets of rain ran down the somewhat dusty window, leaving lines of clear glass behind. The storm outside grew worse and worse by the minute. Bang! The thunder sent tremors down my spine sending me into what I thought was shock.
I was the only one left at the library, but somehow I felt that I wasn’t. Every few seconds my head spun round looking all over the place and then retraining my thought on the storm, although the presence of someone lingered in the back of my mind still.
This was undoubtedly the worst place to be during a storm. Bang! Again the thunder sent tremors down my spine. This time after a while the dark, grey sky lit up with a streak of lightning making the lights flicker on and off. Then right on queue they did. There I sat in pitch blackness, with the occasional light of the lightning filling the room for a few minutes. With the thought of the presence of someone in my mind I roamed through the empty, abandoned library.
A combination of old and new books fill the shelves. Just then I spot a shadow cross my eyes and instantly I run for the cover of the window sill where I had been sitting for the past few hours. Catching my breath I reached into my pocket for my phone and check for any messages, still none. It was like the whole world was hiding or like I was the only one left. I reached into the pocket of my denim jeans again and pull out my head phones. Maybe some music will make the time pass.
I put on my favourite song and sank into one of the comfy sofas nearby. Once more the mysterious figure dashes in front of me. I stumbled to my feet. This time I walked over to where I thought the mysterious figure was concealed; only nothing was there. I sat down again in the comfy sofa reassuring myself that I was seeing things.
Suddenly the big wooden doors to the library swung open. I ducked for cover behind one of many full shelves with a mixture of old and new books. A deep voice called my name; I didn’t dare to look, just in case. He started wandering around the library. Knowing it was him from his deep pubic struck voice. I slowly crept down into a hidden room, which was usually used for conventions. I shut and locked the door behind me, trying not to uncover myself, and slipped behind one of the cabinets.
Just then the door handle moved, the mysterious figure kept calling my name, he must have realised where I went. The door somehow unlocked and in he stepped. I pocked my head around the side of the cabinet that I thought would still hide me. Realising it was a familiar face I jumped up, it was my brother, Jack. I had now found my reassurance that I was safe and could now unwind my tension.
