And The Winner Is......
Born 1999, M, from VISAKHAPATNAM, IndiaAND THE WINNER IS……
“Some people think that finding success is an easy task, but it is as hard as finding a mistake in a task or job done with perfection. Only a placid mind leads to perfection. People feel that they are manqué and this because of their lack of dedication and will to fight.”
Aryan had just finished his school life and had decided to become a footballer. His father had died two years ago due to cancer and he used to live with his grandparents as his mother was not in a good state to take care of him. He decided to live and spend his life with his grandparents. He had no siblings. Sometimes he used to feel that he didn’t belong to this world and because of this he used to weep. His grandfather was an army retired man, and he was the one who knew how he had to handle Aryan.
Whenever Aryan used to cry his grandfather used to say “son, don’t lose faith and hopes, and believe in yourself. if you change yourself then you can change the world too." These lines used to inspire him to do well. After some days he got to know that he had lost his mother. The world came down. That day his grandparents promised god that they will do everything and anything to keep him happy.
Aryan was given admission in a college where his grandparents thought he might be able to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional footballer. That day was exceptional for him and for his grandparents. His college was in Gandhinagar, which was about 48kms far away from his hometown. His grandparents were there to bid goodbye to him. He started crying and thanked them by hugging them.
The next day his training started. Before going to the training he prayed to god and took his blessing. The training ground was beyond his dreams. He had only seen such a ground in an international match.
"Aryan."
"present sir."
"Oh so you are Aryan, I’m your head trainer and you can call me Mr. Tanner."
"Ok Mr. Tanner."
"So are we ready boys?"
"Yes sir."
"No use of the word sir please. I’m Mr. Tanner. So are we ready boys?"
“Yes sir” the group roared.
"Oh leave it. I want you all to warm up and stretch your muscles as much as you can. Start now."
After 30 minutes he could see the group coming together to him. "The next thing we need to do right now is keep our confidence and practice as much as we can, because you know what we are one and we have to play like one.
In the coming days this team will be subjected to harsh training and matches with other colleges. But first I’m ordered by your head coach to select a team. Your head coach is Mr. Ravi. He is a genial person and a master in his game. He has represented the national team in various platforms, so I want you all to work hard and don’t lose your smile."
Aryan was just recollecting all his memories from the past when he heard Mr. Tanner saying something. "Aryan get your ass to the dressing room. NOW!"
"Yes Mr. Tanner."
In the next 5 days the football team was made and Aryan was a part of it but in fact he was the defensive midfielder of the team. As days went by, Aryan met many new guys. He was pleased to be coached and managed by a coach of that standard. He also kept in touch with his grandparents.
Years went by and he developed his standard and one day while he was playing he didn’t know that scouts of many big European teams were watching him at that time. After the match Aryan was called up by his coach. He said to Aryan “Today while you were playing, what did you notice?” "Nothing coach." "What do you want to become Aryan?" "I want to become a professional footballer coach, and that’s why I’m here." "Then Aryan you have to sign some papers." "What do you mean coach?" "Aryan you are called up for trial by Hull City Football Club." "What?" Aryan said. He was going to faint but didn’t. "Oh my god, then when am I leaving for England?" "The 3rd of the next month." "I should tell about this to my grandparents, and by the way, thank you coach." "No problem and all the best."
His grandparents were delighted when he broke the news to them. They thanked god and blessed Aryan. His hard work had truly paid off. Two days before he was going to leave for England he decided to go shopping. He had a royal enfield bike. He was very fond of motorbikes. That day the thing that happened to him he can’t forget in his entire life. He was smoothing at a good pace. While he was doing this, a drunken truck driver hit him from behind. The people that were walking on the road at that time noticed that Aryan was 8m high above the ground. He landed on his spine.
When he opened his eyes he saw that his grandparents were crying. He was in the hospital. He tried to move his legs to get up but he couldn’t. "Ma!" He said, "I can’t feel my legs." His grandfather said “your lower part of the body has been paralyzed. now you won’t be able to play football for the rest of your life." He was torn apart when he heard this. He checked the date and it was 3rd, the day when he had to leave for England. He was shattered into pieces. He knew that his life was over and he could not do anything. He started crying on the bed and asked god, why had he done this to him?
Years went by and Aryan’s hatred for his life grew and grew. He also knew that only a miracle could help him. But he didn’t believe in miracles because he had lost his father and mother very easily. Then one day his coach Mr. Ravi came by to see him. Aryan started crying when he saw his coach. He said to his coach, ”Coach, I worked for it for 4 years and it took only 4 seconds for my dream to get destroyed.” "Don’t lose hope Aryan, because when you’ve lost faith and hope you’ve lost everything that you have. Remember Aryan, you had a purpose in your life and you were on the right path of your life, but you can’t let these things get you down, so you have to say to yourself that you can do it and you will do it. Now it depends on you, on how you react to the situation. You have to learn from the past Aryan, and apply that thing in your present so that it is helpful in your future, then only you can be a winner Aryan. Now get up and work towards your destiny Aryan."
These lines touched his heart. From the next day Aryan was learning to walk again. Step by step he tried and after three and a half years he was on his feet again, but now he was married and had two sons. There was no football for him now but he was a sales manager in a company and everyday thanks his grandparents and his coach that he had at that time for giving him the support to rise from such a type of situation. From that day he believed in miracles.
Who is the winner here: Aryan, his coach, or his will power?
You have to answer that……….
Remember: The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have, or would have done, or what they can't do.
