Nigeria is a country in west Africa and is the most populated in all of Africa, but where did it start?
It started with waring tribes throughout the country. Then the British started colonizing Nigeria. this was during the slave era, throughout Africa. One of the British explorers, named Mongo Park, explored the Niger river that runs through the country. The major tribes were the Yoruba, Igbo, and the Hausa. While the British explored the south, the Arabs explored the north. But the first Europeans that came to the country were the Portuguese. They were also the people that named the city of Lagos.
Now on to the kingdom of Benin the capital of this kingdom was Edo, which is now Benin City, capital of Edo state in present-day Nigeria. Some of the food they ate was eba, rice with stew, peanuts, fish, and many other foods. The Yoruba and the Igbo are from the south and the Hausa are from the north.
Religion in the country is Christianity from the Europeans, Islam from the Arabs, and the traditional belief of many tribes. Nigeria is my native country and I am excited to visit it next year!
