Pay For What You Have Done
Born 1997, F, from Tennessee, United StatesDon't tell me about love. There's no use, I can't go out and be free on my own. I come home to mother saying, "Do your chores, clean the house top to bottom, then go to your room. I'll call you down to make dinner, other than that I don’t want to look at you."
I come home to that every single day. it's even worse on the weekends. I do nothing but wait hand and foot on her. I am not allowed to have any friends.
I wake up in a cold sweat. It's Monday, another dreadful day that I wish I was not alive. I go downstairs to see my mother sleeping. I try to be as quiet as possible because there's no telling what she would do to me if I woke her up.
I grab my things and wait at the bus stop for my bus. I look and try to make a plan in my head. If I were brave enough to run away I would head for the woods first then I would keep running and not stop. I would make sure that I would never have to see my mothers face ever again.
I get to school and when I walk into my first period I see this new student. His eyes are grey and his hair is blond. He is wearing a grey Nike pull-over and a pair of holey pants. He looks at me as I walk in and I have butterflies in my stomach. He is more than an angel fallen from heaven. His skin is tan like he just stayed at the beach every day. I sit two seats down from him. He kept looking over me all of first period. He didn’t have me again until fourth period which is my English class. I set in front of him and he gives me this note that says, "Would you like to eat lunch with me? I would like someone to talk to." I got really shy but I said sure. My mother is going to kill me if she ever finds out about this.
I got my lunch tray and he waved me over to him. He was sitting alone so I felt kind of sorry for him.
"So what’s your name?" He asks. His voice is deep and calm.
"Trinity, what’s yours?" I ask. Trying not to say too much and look stupid.
"Dakota, but you can call me Cody." He replies. We talk for a while and then Jane Lee - a girl that needs to mind her own business- came over to me and gave me a piece of folded up notebook paper. It read, "Oh getting to the new kid first eh, well we all know you won't be the person who gets him." My face got red. No one know what I have to deal with when I'm not here. I just want to make a friend. how does she have the audacity to say that? I got mad with rage. I looked down at my plate and ate my mashed up carrots quietly.
A few weeks after that Dakota and I have been talking every day. And Jane still makes fun of me. He sits next to me on my bus and we talk even more.
"You little bitch! Jane told me everything about you and this boy named Cody, what did I say about having friends and talking to people at school!?" She asks.
"You said that if I have friends I won't focus on school and if you catch me having friends I will get a punishment." I replied. So she pushed me down the stairs. I could feel my head hit the floor at the bottom. My vision was blurry and I can see blood. I close my eyes. She comes down and grabbed me by my arm and pushed me in the freezer in the basement. It got so cold I couldn’t feel my hands. I'm going to give up. I am going to close my eyes and not going to fight anymore... No I can't do that, I'm only sixteen I have too much to live for. I hit the door as hard as I can, my hands are bleeding. I see the door open and I fall out.
"Next time you will learn better than to deceive me." She said as she grabbed my hair and pulled me toward the front door. I could barley walk since I couldn’t feel my feet.
"You will sleep out here tonight." She says. And locks the door behind her.
The next day was Saturday. I spent the whole day in my room. That night Dakota comes in through my window. Mother is out partying and won't be back until about four o clock the next day.
"What are you doing here? You know how much trouble I would get in?" I say.
"Who hit you?" He says in a protective voice.
"No one it doesn’t matter." I said as he looked down to see my hands bandaged. I stood but I almost fell over until he caught me. I looked up into his eyes and he brushed my cheek with his hand. I am basically putting all my weight on him because I can barely stand up. He kisses me. His lips are as soft as cotton candy. He kisses me passionately. I wrap my fingers in his blond hair. His hands rest on my hips. He kisses up my neck and he lays me on the bed. I can feel his warm hand on my skin. He lifts my shirt a little and I stop him there. He lays next to me and I look up to him.
"Before I met you I thought that there was no reason to keep fighting for my life, that there was no reason to live. You gave me something to live for. I wish and daydream about leaving this place forever but I know its never going to happen." I say and I begin to cry. He wipes the tears off of my face and then he kisses me again. I can feel his hands under my shirt but I don’t stop him. I hear a car door slam shut. I look out the window and its mother!
"You have to go my mom is here." I say and I kiss him one more time before he leaves. She saw my light on. I grab a school book and pretend like I am doing homework.
"Why in the hell is your light on?" She asks. She is obviously drunk,
"Just doing homework. No worries." I say, she glares at me.
"Don't get smart with me child!" She yells in my face. I can smell the Vodka on her breath. She grabs my hair and tugs me towards the stairs. she tries to push me down the stairs but I resist. Then she punches me in the face and I fall. I feel like I just got hit by a bus. She pulls my hair to the door. my feet hurt so bad to walk. She has a group of her guy friends in the living room that don’t even care and are enjoying the show.
"You're a slut and you will always be one!" she yells. Then she tries to pull my shirt off but I punch her in the face. One of her guy friends come and holds my arms and another holds my legs. She strips me bare and I have no more pride left in myself. She hits me over and over while they are holding me. I see the bruises everywhere. Then she pushes me out the door.
"Never come back, you can die on your own account." She says and I can barely stand. I see a person walking towards me after she shuts the door. I don’t have the energy to fight back. Then I notice that Is Dakota.
"No...(cough cough), leave me here, you don’t need to see me like this." I say shivering because it's below twenty degrees outside.
"No you're coming with me." He says and kisses my forehead.
A few months after I recovered I was living in a little town called Lynnville on the North Western point of the United States.
I crawl into bed with Cody and he kisses me. I get on top of him and he takes my shirt off and then we kiss again.
I grew up and we had twin boys. And we got married. My mother died and I went to her funeral and paid my respects then I poured a bottle of vodka on her grave to pay back for everything she did to me.
