Time Machine

Time Machine

The present year now is 2050 and I was now 20 years old. At my university, I took a science major. At my science class, I was the youngest among all of them. My other classmates are 24 years old. Even though they are older than me, we are all close to one another.
The bell rings and we soon started our lesson. I sat with Evan at the front row because all the seats are occupied. The professor was explaining about time traveling. He explains the first person who attempts to create it and also some materials that are actually needed to make a time traveler. After he had done explaining, he asked us whether we had a question and everybody shook their heads.
“Good then, because we are making an experiment tomorrow. That is to make a time travel machine. I know that some of you would be thinking this is crazy because you guys are all thinking that we are too young to make this great project that many people tried and failed. But what if we at least try it, right?” the professor said.
All of my colleagues nodded their heads including me. Actually I was excited because we’re going to make this project. Since the others are making this we-are-never-going-to make-this face, I just act like them. I like doing this project because when I was around 6 years old, my father brought me to his lab. And I saw this time travel machine but my father said that it didn’t work. Since that day, I want to be one of those people who can create a time travel machine.

So today is the day of making this project. I was so nervous and kept thinking what if I couldn’t make this work but at the same time I’m excited too. The professor assigns each of us to do different things. And I was assign to be the leader of this project not Darcy, who is the smartest among all of us. He said that I have the spirit to make this project work.

We are working really hard and after a week we finally finish it. Emily was the one who is going to start the machine. My heart was literally beating fast and my mind is going crazy. But then I heard a ‘click’ and an engine voice. That means… It’s working! All of us were screaming happily even the professor too.

We are not going to waste our time so one by one; we all enter the time machine. We set the time to 2600. When we all arrive, we are surprised. London was really different. Streets are white, not black. People are using all red clothes. Communicating was using a hand and it shows the other person and many more.

Our mouth was hanging open. People are starting to stare at us with their confused expression. But we ignored it. We started to walk around, seeing all the things here carefully. We were really happy at that time but Nathan break our happiness with an urgent news.

“Emm guys… I think we forgot something when we went here”

“It’s impossible. All of us were bringing all the things we need,” I said.

“We forgot that freaking machine that could help us back, Ethan!”

All of us were really panicked. But then something came up to my mind.

“I think I know how we could go back”
“And how is that?” Emily asked me.

“I think the time machine is at our lab or maybe at the museum because it’s possible that somebody steal it from us because it’s the first time traveling machine that actually works. So it may be in there.”

All of us when straight to the lab and the code for entering the lab are still the same. But when we arrive, there’s nothing in there. So the other option is to go to the museum. I think that the museum is now close because now it’s afternoon. But we still wanted to get in because we are starving and there’s no place for us to stay. Also 20 out of 20 of us didn’t bring our money here on our way. So we wanted to ask the guard if we could get in. Surprisingly, the guards are all robots. We tried to ask but they said we couldn’t. My father once said to me that if robots say no, they mean it. Automatically, it’s plan B which is sneaking in.

We tried to sneak in when all the robots are going to the left side and we made it inside. Once we enter the museum the time machine was in front of us. So I asked Emily to start the machine. After the machine was fully on, we rush into the time machine and finally we arrived at our 2050 lab without getting caught by the robots. It’s a truly but dangerous kind of experience. In the end, we decided to destroy it because we know what will happen to the machine in the future but first, we travel to places we’ve never been before.
