Is This What You Call Faith?(Nina Gunawan) When you start to hear the word “witch” and try to imagine it in your real life, it will terribly effect your imagination which can make you to regret your hilarious imagination.

When we hear the word “witch”, fairy-tale will come to our mind all of sudden but witch that we imagine is not the same like witch in our real dimensions. In fairy-tales, witch always wear silly black hats and black cloaks, and they ride on broomsticks. But the story that begins in 1988 is not a fairy-tales. It’s the time where witches are popular around the Norway.

Real witches dress in ordinary clothes and really look like an ordinary adult and they work in ordinary office.

At that time, children really curious about what real witch is look like despite the fact that witches really hates all children. So some children asking their parents about the image of the witch but their parents always refuse to tell them.

At this time the journey of some ordinary children starts.

Sometimes schools can be a fun place but sometimes it can create unpredictable crime.

Bell rang clearly heard until the fourth floor. Schools activity officially started. All the students gathered in their class and happily greet all their friends and teacher but it did not happened for one student called Geirlaug who just came to the school today. He was a boy who transferred from Scotland because their parents died in road accident and he began his incredible life with his grandmother.

First day of school was just going unexpectedly. Many works were given by all teacher and students try their best to do it. But Geirlaug was just sit at his place, alone at the corner and do nothing. Teacher asked him why but he answers nothing to them. One student became curious with him and tries to make friend with him. Her name was Amborg. She ask some question to Geirlaug such as his family and the reason why he moved heat but the answer was just a silence between the two of them until Geirlaug starts to open his mouth.

“Hello my name is Geirlaug. I think you are curious about my background but I bet you may not interested with it.”

“No, it’s okay for me. I used to be a listener to other people story and since you want to share it, I’ll listen carefully. Trust me that there will be no regret sharing some problem that really bothered your life.”

“So why am I transferred here. Well, there is only one reason. Both my parents died because of road accident and I have no relative except my grandmother. My grandmother lives in here, Norway, so the day that my parents passed away, my grandma fetches me in hometown and travelled here.”

“I see. I feel bad for asking this and I’m sorry for your lost. May God give you and your grandmother strength to pass all of this.”

“It’s okay; don’t be afraid to ask me another question. I’m just a person who has a close personality and anyway, thank you for caring me, I appreciate it.”
Since that conversation, Amborg and Geirlaug started to become a close friend. Day by day, Hours by hours passed. Examination week has come and this made Geirlaug do a criminal did in the school. At a night, He tried to sneak to the school and tried to take the questionnaire from the teachers file and hacking the school server but he was caught by the security guard who just checks along the school building and from the CCTV record. From that day Geirlaug have no confidence to come to school and meeting Amborg. But Amborg still passionly wait for Geirlaug to come to school.

His school tried to contact his grandmother and asked her if Geirlaug is home. Hearing this news made Geirlaug’s grandmother surprised and force Geirlaug to come to school. At that day , Geirlaug was called to the principal office and he was just stand by and hearing his principle preach but the thing that in his mind is only about witch.

Day has passed. School life becomes usual for Geirlaug and Amborg. They are getting along together. Summer holiday has come and Geirlaug try to assuring Amborg his promise.

“Amborg!” Gerilaug called her with his special deep sound.
‘Hey, are you ready for our adventure?”
“Yep, let’s go. “

Starting from that day, Geirlaug is not going home. They start to search for the real witch throughout the forest but this made closer and closer and one day, Geirlaug serenade Amborg and they fall in love along their way. This made them really enthusiastic to find the witch.

Day by day has gone and nothing they found but suddenly when they are in the middle of the forest, they see a person who really suspicious, walking unpredictably and wearing a long gown. She has a blonde long hair and a pointy finger. Geirlaug and amborg start to feel a horror and have some expectation at the same time. But all the planned is just go opposite to the plan.

Geirlaug and Amborg start to feel that something is wrong when that person turn to them. At this time they wanted to go back to their house but they realize that they had lost in the middle of the forest. They can’t do anything. They try to find a way but in fact that person who really suspicious for them is following them in fast speed.

That person is the witch who they search for. That witch tries to take amborg from Geirlaug beause they really hate children. Geirlaug is in panic and especially Amborg but at the time they start to decrease their speed, the witch grab Ambrog and take her away from Geirlaug.

Geirlaug is about to cry but he realize that boy should not cry and protect his girlfriend, so he start to find Amborg. Geirlaug meet some other witches and his body star to shivering but the witch gives no mercy for him. He is snatched way by the witch to a very small untouched place where all witch used to sit together and having tea time.

“I wonder where Amborg is. It’s impossible for me to find her in this condition, hanged by hand using a rope that is stick to the room ceiling. Is this faith?” Geirlaug think.

He try to wriggle his body, thinking that he can lose the knot and escape. Night come and make all the witch fall asleep. Geirlaug still try his best to escape from the situation where he find it more than a horror.
Meanwhile in Amborg side...

“Is this faith?can I escape and return home safely with Geirlaug?” thinking and crying in silence.

She was place deep inside the forest where it is nearly impossible for someone to find it. She was tied there for more than an hour, trying to escape from the tied knot. Just thinking of it make Amborg feel regret to not obeying her parents.

Horrible night has pass and Geirlaug still trying to escape when one of the knot is loosen. He wriggles more and makes his body free from the entire knot. He just runs away in silence from the place where all witches are still asleep.
He runs to the forest and lost his way when he see a little girl who just sit below the tree and crying with his face cover by her hand. He try to look for it from a closer distance and realise it was Amborg. He run to her and hug her tightly.

They start their journey back home. It goes roughly. Many problems are there from hunger until have no direction. They just hope to get in right direction when they keep running. At the same time Heirlaug’s grandmother and Amborg’s parents really worried about them. They just keep praying all the time, wishing them a safety adventures

Geirlaug and amborg has escape from the forest. They see very beautiful scenery after running away from all the witches that followed them that day. In this place, Geirlaug say something to Amborg.

“Hmm… Amborg” say Geirlaug.
“Yes?” reply Amborg softly.
“I love you…don’t be in love with someone else.”

They become awkward and fall in silence. And Amborg start their conversation and luring Geirlaug to go home.

They spent 1 week in the forest with only limited food. All the family has waiting for them all day long. They return to the place where they belong the next day.

“I just regret to not obey my grandma. Is this what you called life where happiness, sadness, and regret mixed. Is this what you called faith when you meet someone you really love? Is this what you called adventure where it nearly killed yourself?” Said Geirlaug when he was home and get back to school.

Geirlaug and Amborg was brought to a psychological center by Amborg’s parents after all their journey to check whether they are fine or not and they live happily after that. Going back to school, playing with friends, and having hard time in examination.

Life is just a mystery and an adventure. It can go without a planned and become horrible but at the same time it makes you realize the meaning of life and the purpose you were born. Mystery of your life will never ever be solve and make your life fantastic. Don’t bothered all the hard time and regret in your life because regret always comes late and make your life disappointing.
