Once In A Life Time Experience
Born 1999, M, from Jakarta, IndonesiaHey guys, my name is Jayce, I’m going to tell you my experience of being kidnapped in a remote island. Several weeks ago, I was on this remote island to have fun with my brother, Jason, and my friends. The island is awesome, there are very few villages and locals are very curious about us since they say they have very few visitors. There are also lots of activities so we won’t get bored. Every day was fun, we surfed, sky dived, did some hiking, and we partied all night.
One day, we decided to have an adventure to the forests deep inside the island. My brother is a professional mercenary so he carries weapons everywhere. We’re lucky to have him here because they say there are many wild animals inside the forest. But they didn’t say anything about a huge group containing drug dealers and human traffickers scattered along the island. Of course, we didn’t know this that time. We rode dirt bike to the meeting place and Karen, our dear friend and a biologist, will inform us about what to do and what not to do inside the forest. After she finished the discussion we directly take our gears and head inside the forest, our plan was that this forest camp will last about 2 days and the target was a village inside the forest. We would be divided into 2 groups with 8 persons each we will compete with each other.
Day 1 went well, march through the forest easily without encountering any wild animals. I don’t know what will happen with the second group but I bet they are left behind. I want to call them but there were no signal so we can’t. I realized that we already completed ¾ of the journey. We were bored so we spend time by playing cards, my brother had slept since he was tired of hacking the leaves that got in the way. We woke up when the sun rises, we got ready to march but I noticed something moving and hiding behind the bushes and warned the others to be careful and try not to act hostile. We walked like nothing happened but then the figure started moving and we ran. My brother grabs his rifle and was ready to shoot. We were running without direction, we stick close so no one will be separated.
Suddenly, the person in front tripped and all the others followed. The figure approached and we realized that it’s actually just a person. But then many others came out and all of them were holding guns. We were scared and my brother admits defeat and drops down his weapon. Their leader showed himself, he was a scary guy, he looks skinny but when you see all the weapons he is carrying you will admit that he is a gun maniac and his worn out white t-shirt look red, you can only see some spots of yellowish-white on the cloth. They shot each of us with some kind of dart gun. My brother was still struggling and kicked the guys that got near a few times. The leader got mad and took a knife from his arsenal and stabbed one of my brother’s legs, after a while all of us got dizzy and fainted.
When I woke up, it was dark, we were inside a small wooden cage, and I can see some people from the other group in another cage not far away. My brother was on the opposite side of the cage struggling to loosen the rope. My brother saw me waking up, he quickly said help me get my pocket knife on the pocket which his legs were stabbed. I was still dizzy but I tried as to kick the pocket knife as fast and accurate as possible but in my dizzy state it was hard. My kicks frequently miss and it hits the spot where he was stabbed. He tried not to shout but I guess sometimes it was just too painful so that he released a grin. Guards patrol the cage area often so we need to be as careful as possible not to get caught, the kicking went on for almost twenty minutes as the gushing blood made the pocket sides to stick and made it harder to kick the knife out. Since our hands are tied behind our backs, my brother can’t grab it so I kick the key carefully so it will reach his hand’s reach. It was hard since the ground was full of roots entangled with one another. After several minutes of kicking, it finally reached his hands, he flip the knife open, cut his rope and went to cut my rope. Guards were coming, he panicked and quickly sat back but he didn’t place the rope on his wrist. The guard saw the rope laying on the floor and became curious, he got near and was about to ask something. But as soon as he opened his mouth the pocket knife went straight to his throat, my brother threw it with so much force that the knife almost went through the throat. We quickly got up, took a machete from the dead guard and cut the rope locking the cage door.
At that time I think, now we need to save our friends, I suggest it to my brother and we quietly helped our friends. Luckily there were no other guards while we helped our friend. Now we need to escape, we grabbed a torch on one of the trees and raced to an open door at the fence surrounding the caging area. There were few guard and all of them were sleepy and unaware of their surroundings. My brother could easily sneak past them and stealthily kill some who are blocking our escape path. We managed to reach the exit but we noticed that their leader was guarding the post near the gate. I was confused on what to do since the fence tops were wired and the only exit or entrance to this terrorist camp. We all went back and discussed the best way to escape the place, waiting or trying to sneak past their leader. We voted which option should we choose, the results were sneaking past the leader. Almost nobody wanted to wait because they know the guards will soon realize that we have escaped or they will find the bodies we hid halfheartedly. My brother made a plan to kill him stealthily and if he fails we would run straight to the exit and he will try to hold the other guys back. We definitely won’t accept that plan but he made it clear that it’s better to die saving his friends than being a slave. We determined a meeting point and if he wasn’t there in 10 minutes we would leave him.
We prepared, did some warm up to let us run faster. My brother held one machete in each hand and prepared himself. When we were ready, we initiated the plan. My brother quietly walked to the leader and when he was within range of the kill he quickly raised his machete but while raising his machete he bumped one of the guns the leader was carrying and the leader turned back. My brother quickly sliced the leader’s head but the guns disturb his swinging motion and stopped it. The leader struggled and we quickly ran. My brother and the leader were on the ground fighting each other. When they were already out of sight, there was a boom sound. It was a grenade. We went to the meeting place and waited for several minutes. When we saw him, he was bruised and bleeding but he said it was nothing, and he showed us a phone, it’s his phone. The phone has a GPS function so we can easily find another village and ask for a vehicle to ride to the shore were we could ride a ship back to the main island.
