Violent Games/Movies can be good for Kids
Born 1993, F, from Phila pa, United StatesThe word “violent” is often misused at times. Violence can sometimes help solve a problem. Video games and other violent movies help children let out anger. When a child is able to let out their anger it make them feel a lot better. Violence can be seen in different ways for people who face issues. There are a lot of people who can watch a violent movie or play a violent game and not want to do the activity they watch happen. Some people can watch these things happen and know that there are consequences if they do the same thing. When parents buy games for their children they tend to stay away from games that have violence involved. Most parents are afraid that children will do the things they saw happen in those types of videos. But bloody video games and movies with violence sometimes benefit children and provide outlets for their rage.
Violent activity should not constantly be viewed as a bad thing because it can teach children valuable lessons. Children can learn from people who are sent to jail or punished. When they watch how these people actions lead them to trouble they learn not to follow in the same exact path. For example growing up my father was in and out of jail because of violent behavior. He ran from cops and did inappropriate things with guns. When my brothers watched our father go to jail several times it taught them a lesson. They learned to never follow in his same path. They did not want to waste their life having to be told what to do. Real life situations help children learn valuable lessons. Children can learn from other people mistakes. For instance when a child acts up in the class room their class mates know not to follow what the student acting up is doing. When the child acts up and pushes their desk on the floor the other children look and know not to do the same because that child that acted up will be suspended. Children of all ages learn lessons when they witness something face to face.
Video games allow many children to let out anger they may have trouble dealing with. Rage can make children do horrible things without thinking about the trouble they will have to face. However playing games that consist of fighting zombies and other creatures is a way of releasing frustration. Hitting and defeating the bad creatures on a video game can help children become calm and forget about the things they are mad about. This in fact also helps the child stay relaxed and not want to do awful things. For example my younger brother has a bad temper and when he gets mad he acts in a bad manner. Whenever he acts like this my mother yells and makes him go into his room. But this does not help with his temper it just makes him became angry with everyone in the household. My little brother has had several temper events where him and my mother would argue and fight.
One day I took the time out to ask him what he believed would make him feel better. He said that he enjoyed playing shooting games. He told me that it made him forget about all the things that once made him upset. When he played the games his mind went into a different world where he was so stress-free. Nothing could distract him when he was in his game mode. I believe many children have similar situations as my brother. Violent games does not always make a child want to do what they see appear on their video game. My brother and other children have sense and know that they should never do the things they do on their game. They know to only use it as a stress reliever whenever they become angry. Using video games as a stress reliever allows them to have a good day in school as well as in their household. When my mother allowed my brother to play his video games during the weekend and once during the week she saw a difference in his attitude. He became calm and did not let things get him so upset. He was able to open up to my mother and talk about things that made him become angry.
There are several reasons why violent games are in fact able to have a good impact on children. It may be hard to picture this image but violent movies have been used to guide young children in the right path. A dear friend of mine told me how her father started a young boys group to keep them out of jail. During the weekend he would have the boys come over to his home where he had movies set up for them to watch. A few boys were on the wrong path but with the help of my friend father they were able to get back on the right path. When the boys would watch these violent movies they would see how the wrong actions could lead them to prison. After watching people rob banks and have innocent people at gun point the boys realized that they did not want to follow after them. It has be said by many people that when children watch violent movies they want to go out the next day and do the things they watched happened. However not all children do foolish things they see happen on television. Some have enough since to know that it is a movie and that they should not follow after what they have seen happen. Children know that they should value their life and not want to put themselves in any harmful situations.
Allowing a child to play violent shooter games can enhance children social skills. Some children find it hard to communicate and make friends. When a child can find one who likes the same things as them they are able to talk and not remain shy. When they find peers who share the same love for shooting games they began to open up and talk about their experiences on the game. For example in middle school I had a friend who was really shy and did not talk to many people. One particular day a few kids in my class were outside waiting in line to go inside when a few children began talking about their latest video game. When my friend who did not usually talk engaged into the conversation I was shock. He discuss to them about his techniques he used to kill off the zombies during a mission the other children could not seem to defeat. He went on and told them that he aimed his gun towards their head in order to kill them. The children in my class could not believe he could defeat this mission. They all circled around him and tried to talk to him all at once. He looked at me when he got the chance and I could tell that he was happy to finally be accepted. Videos rather they are violent or not can help children with their social skills. It helps them feel comfortable to talk in a crowd without being shy.
The more children play violent video games they more they improve in problem solving. In order to defeat most games children play they have to come up with a plan. This is the same way for solving problems in school. When a child is able to master how to come up with a way to defeat each zombie during levels in a game without giving up they can also do the same in the classroom. When they show this dedication on their game they have no problem performing the same task in the classroom. They are able to come up with ways to solve a problem because of how they function with their video games. When children playing games do not understand a mission they go to the internet for help. They also use this same task when they have difficulties understand and solving a problem. Violent games also can improve solving problems because in each game the goal is most likely set up to solve certain tasks. In a recent popular video game the children had to kill off ten zombies without getting hit by more than three zombies. In order to defeat this mission the child first had to think about it and then try to come up with a plan to kill off ten zombies before they killed them. Violent games as well as problem solving both make you use your brain to figure out how to defeat the task. Violent games are not all about having fun. Sometimes children have to think about ways they can get around a zombie or get along a path without getting hit by something. Parents and teachers should know that most children can learn a great amount from playing video games.
Children who play video games allow their brain to receive a workout. It gives their brain a workout because it requires the brain to think on a high level. Most skills they learn are learned by playing video games and actually do not get taught at school. In shooting games sometimes the character can be running and shooting at the same time. When this happens it requires the child playing the game to keep track of the characters shooting back at them. In order for these actions to go well the child must be able to understand the keys on his controller and also be able to move his or her fingers fast to shoot at characters coming their way. This requires a huge deal of coordination from the eyes and hands. One will not learn how to coordinate their eyes and hands in school but they are able to teach themselves this task when they play their video games.
Video games are not always bad and people need to realize this. Video games can make learning fun for children. Most children like playing video games because of the great animation. Children learn more when they are able to have fun at the same time. Having fun gives the child inspiration in waiting to defeat a game. This can play a role inside the classroom for most children as well when they won’t give up until the found the answer to a problem they were solving. Video games help children vent their frustrations out on their game. Video games are a positive outlet just as football is for some people. Overall kids are not hook on video games just because of their violence. They also enjoy the computer graphics of explosions, blooding splattering and sounds of the guns. These things are appealing to children and make them love to play the game. Video games also allow children to play together and grow a bond. When children play video games together they learn how to share and also how to use technology. Video games also help children set goals on their game learn how to also set goals for themselves in school. When they are able to set a goal for their game and defeat it they are likely to set a goal in school and also master it.
