the airport
Born 2001, M, from Portland Oregon, United StatesMy ears hurt. It felt like someone was popping my eardrums. I forced opened my eyes. I heard a voice from a speaker say “We will soon be arriving at the Dallas Forts Worth international airport. The local time is 5:00 A.M. The plane finally landed. The funny thing was that in Portland, the local time was 3:00 A.M. This was the first of the two flights that we were going to take to Cancun Mexico. After we got off our airplane, we found ourselves in a small building. I had read in a magazine that the DFW airport (Dallas Forts Worth airport) was the seventh biggest airports in the United States, so it was impossible that it was this small. I found a map, and saw that this building was only one ninth of terminal E, which was one fifth of the entire airport! I strolled around the building, finding many work areas. My mom told me to catch up on my schoolwork. However, I was very tired, but after 2 mochas, one café latté, and a Gatorade, I stated to do my work. Two hours later, I began to wonder when we would go on our next flight. I went over to my dad, and asked him. “Four more hours”, said my dad. I thought I would faint.
We finally had breakfast. It was very early morning, Around 8:00 local time, but 6:00 in Portland. I was munching on a large bacon and egg biscuit at the Pizza Hut Express. After breakfast, we decided to go to the art gallery to calm down our boredom. The passage to the main terminal E was like an endless flat road that was carpeted. As we finally reached the terminal E, I saw my first piece of art. It was a picture with realistic intersecting 3D cubes. Many people gazed at it, but the gray and dark brown was not appreciating to me. We moved on. We took a train called a skyran to terminal c.
We ran to the huge plastic dome. Its gargantuan size made it look like a castle. I also noticed the Ben&Jerry Ice cream shop connected to a Dunkin’ Doughnuts. I was very hungry and I begged my mom to buy me an ice cream and a doughnut. The taste of the mango banana flavored Ice cream filled my mouth. The sweet and dry taste made every one of my taste buds leap with joy. Then came the Doughnut. It tasted extremely sweet. My Mouth was filled with pink frosting and chocolate sprinkles. Finally after an ice cream and a doughnut, my stomach was satisfied. The morning snack tasted delicious, and with a belly full of food, we visited the other exhibits.
We were back at the same small building. We had already visited all the exhibits. It was lunch time. We wondered where to go for lunch. Eventually, we went to Pizza Hut Express again and bought a Pepperoni Pizza. We still had one and a half hours left until we could board our flight. I decided to check out the only store in the small building, the news store.
“Flip, flip, flip”. I was hooked up in a magazine. I ignored my little brother’s comments about buying popcorn. I just kept reading about the B-2 stealth bomber. My mom walked in. “Time to board our flight” she said. I sadly closed the magazine, and went board our plane. I heard the engines rev. As the plane slowly took off, I fell asleep.
My mom nudged me awake. It had not occurred to me that it was only a two hour flight. We had finally arrived at the Cancun International Airport. I reluctantly got up and went through customs.
When we exited the Cancun airport, we were 15 minutes late. A person who was doing a commercial dragged us over and was yakking for 20 minutes. We got in a van that would take us to our hotel, and we drove off. 15 minutes later, we arrived at our hotel.
The sent of fresh air mixed with the feel of the ocean breeze made me dreamy. The drowsy feel also interacted with my tiredness from staying up all night and my scenes awaked and revolted from my brain. As soon as we cheeked in, I tiredly trudged like a zombie to the bar. Then, I lazily flung open the door to my suet and deliberately pulled the covers over my body. Five-minutes later, the bone-weary Kevin Zhang fell asleep.
