Lake Louise
Born 2001, M, from Portland, Oregon, United States.jpg)
The weather seemed to hold up as the lake came into sight. It had been a long walk from the parking lot to the boat house, but it was worth the time. Apart from the gleaming turquoise water was a thirty story building that loomed over the lake and cast a vast dark shadow. Workers were on the roof of the hotel as they constructed the skeleton of another floor. Ever since the forest fire, people have been working 24-7 to build the Fairmont Chateau back to its original status. However, in the far left corner of the lake, there was a small red house with a dock that had ten boats. That was our destination.
A light zephyr hit the boat dock as we sailed off. We paddled for a while until we stopped to admire the natural beauty of the place.
There were mountains all around us with frosty, white snow covered peaks, and one gargantuan glacier facing us as if to say “Welcome to Louise Lake”. Then we noticed a disturbance in the sky. We saw storm clouds covering the glacier and darkening its luminous territory into a white, sky blue block covered in a thin layer of darkness. I noticed that we were already at the end of the lake, because the tide had made us drift. We decided to race the clouds to see who was faster. Jason, my little brother, and I would paddle on the left side, while my dad would paddle on the right, so we could move in a straight line. Meanwhile, the menacing storm clouds were getting closer and closer. It was like the clouds were on an invisible ski lift, while the end of the cable was the giant hotel. The paddling begun right after our plan was set.
Water flew down the sides of our boat and even splashed and doused us. However, we continued forcing our boat forward. We did the procedure for an endless time. The storm clouds were still inching closer. Finally, we touched the boat dock after beating the clouds by a considerable amount. A worker lassoed the boat to the dock, and this was the end of our boating trip.
It was late and time to go to bed. We were staying at the Louise Lake Inn, and I was about to go to sleep. I reminded myself of the day’s events, and smiled when I got to the morning’s boat trip. It had been one of the best activities so far. I thought about it again, as I crawled in to bed, and went to sleep.
