Survival and Living
Born 2000, F, from Pinecoveredhills, IndiaThe twilight was merging into darkness and the summer air refreshed the environment. The leaves on every tree were perfect in their own manner. The sky changing and always inviting was occupied with small clouds that looked fluffy and reflected the rays of the sun, which would soon bid farewell for the elegant arrival of the moon in the sky that would turn from crimson to violet after some time. The brown soil gave life to green grass, which thanked its mother by adding beauty to her. In the death of the day, a new life had begun for Mia. She had been existing for years on the earth but only started living a short time ago. The more she lived the more she noticed and the more she noticed, the more beauty she found. The more she appreciated the more beautiful it became. But it was not the way she had been living before.
That afternoon Mia was coming back from school. She was exhausted and felt terribly lonely. She thought that no one understood her and she became depressed. The day seemed to be longer than a decade. She felt to cry and shout but the sadness inside her had drained her energy and dried her tears and she felt that only a void existed within her. She had been a bright student but she felt that there were so many people brighter than she was and so she felt of no use. She had friends but she felt that she did not have a single real friend. Her classmate taunted her because she was one of the teacher’s pet and because of that she stopped being close to her teachers. Her parents had high expectations from her and this made her afraid. She felt like a caged bird and her heart was so deep in the ocean of sadness that she felt she could no longer find it. She looked at things but never observed them. She touched but never felt. All she saw around her was hopelessness .She felt that a stone was more precious than she was and decided that she would no longer live and decided to end her miserable life. Life was nothing but torture for her and she could find only flaws in everything.
Many of us feel this some time or the other and we consider the world as cruel society that does not want our good and wants us to live in caves of melancholy. We are too delicate to survive this cruelness and tremendous pressure. In such times, it is important that we go alone and take time to recover and think with cool mind. When we think we will find that our sadness was too much and we should try to stay away from others because if they come close we may hurt them and maybe we will not have the medicine to cure their hurt.
After school, Mia was on her way to the forest to put a full stop to her grammatically incorrect sentence called life. She had planned that she will make everyone regret. She felt that once she was gone, the people who made her sad would have sleepless nights and take the blame on themselves. While she was thinking about this topic, she, of about seven years of age, saw a little girl playing with her parents. The girl was bald but looked charming in her delicate lace gown and what made her angelic was the smile on her face. She was a cancer patient, that could be clearly seen, and the parents were giving her the best days of her life they could manage to. They were happy and contented.
Mia felt ashamed of herself and broke into tears. The little girl came to Mia and hugged her. She said, “Don’t cry. Be happy. Enjoy your life. There is no reason you should be sad when God has blessed you with all you need. I hope my hug makes you feel nice, because whenever i am sad my mother hugs me and i feel happy.”
Mia understood that her parents worked so hard just to fulfil all her desires and needs and all they ask in return is her bright future. Her teachers love her so much and introduce her to things she never knew. Her adults were always there to help her. She had never considered talking out her problems with them. They wanted her life to be a garden where flowers of happiness bloomed from soils of satisfaction. She told herself that the taunting from her classmates is supposed to motivate her even further so that she becomes successful. Rather, she jokingly thought that she was so important to them that they spend their precious time discussing about her.
She will only live once (i am not in that way that we only live once, we have existed since the beginning of everything and will continue till end, but we have different forms and we are privileged to be humans), we only have one present. The present after one second becomes past and before one second is future. Therefore, to live life, it is important that we live every second and we do not have any reason to waste it.
Mia decided to change. She now knew how precious life was. She could see the world in a way she had never seen before because now she had found the beauty within herself. Even If there was no reason for her existence, she could make the reason herself. We only realise the true value of a thing after it is gone. She became a happy person now and decided that she will give her best. You can find everything if you set out to find it, except happiness because it lies within you. Happiness arises from love, satisfaction, and gratitude. Mia fell in love with everything and everyone around her and became happy. She gave the love she had longed for and got it back too.
Like Mia, we too sometimes forget that only the dead do not face difficulties and rest in peace. The beauty of life is in its difficulty, and it is like a game we should enjoy. We are a winner only if we enjoyed the game and not just won with sad face.
She looked around and thought that she doesn’t know where her future is but she sure has the present and she is going to live it.
