Hey Vanessa….
yes little brother?
You want to the park?
No, I’m doing something with my boyfriend later on tonight.
Aw come on, it’s still early, I just want to get some fresh air for awhile.
Ughh! Ok but we are leaving at 8:00 sharp and not a minute later.
Ok fine, I said. I ran to my room and threw on some clothes, it was hot outside so I decided to wear some shorts, a black tank top, and my purple shoes. We left out of the house and headed to the park.

I have a feeling that I’m going to fall in love today, I said smiling. Love? You're 15, what do you know about love?
Shut up, you can’t even keep a boyfriend for 2 weeks, I said.
We were arguing all the way to the park and I didn’t even notice. The park was filled with soccer moms, little kids in the 1st and 2nd grade and a few teenage girls. I sat on the bench and put my headphones into my ear. Hey little brother?
What….
you see that girl with her little sister walking over there, she’s cute don’t you think?
Cute? No but she is drop dead gorgeous.
Well what are you waiting for golden boy, go and talk to her.
I trust my senses and it’s telling me that it isn’t the right time.
Well whatever, I’m going to go talk to my boyfriend on the phone.

I sat and watched as the girl took her little sister to the sandbox.
Hey! I like your shoes, some boy said.
Thanks, I responded as I looked behind me to see who it was.
you play basketball?
Well I’m more of a fancy showoff.
Can you show me some moves, the boy said.
He threw me the ball and I started to do all types of fancy dribbles. I drew a crowd around me and they were impressed that I could dribble like that. I stopped and looked at the girl again to see if she was watching me.
you like her don’t you? One of the boys asked.
Well I think she is cute if that’s what you’re asking.
We dare you to go and talk to her.
me? I asked curiously.
Yeah you.
one of the boys tossed me the ball and said, go get her tiger.
I smiled and rolled the ball to her foot, making it seem like an accident. I walked over to her and said, sorry. she just smiled and said, it’s ok. Can I sit here? I asked.
It’s not my bench, you can sit where you want.
I sat down and looked at her. can I ask you your name?
no she responded.
Well can I tell you mine?
Yeah I guess so.
Well my name is Cory.
Nice, she responded looking down to the ground.
Are you angry about something?
no I’m just a little shy that’s all.
Well would it help you if I told you I’m a little shy also?
That helped a little bit, she said as she put her thumb into her mouth. So what type of girls do you like?
I like shy girls, I like girls with braces and long wavy hair, I like girls who like to hold hands and swim.
You seem like the type of guy that you would only see in a romance movie. Well stick around, you might just get to know me better than anyone else. I wish I could but I got to get home, I got school tomorrow and my parents would kill me if I got involved with a guy when I’m supposed to be focused on school.
Can I call you? If I had a phone I would give you my number, but I don’t have one.
I walked her and her little sister to the corner and asked her if I’d ever see her again. She just said it wouldn’t be a good idea and walked away.

I walked back into the park and one of the boys asked if I got her number. I said yeah and I also said I got her facebook name. in my head I was punching myself because I just lied twice in one sentence.
You are a badass another boy replied.
So are you going to call her tonight?
Yeah I’ll call her tonight. Well I guess I’ll head home since she left. See ya later bro one of the boys said.

As I walked home with my sister she randomly questioned me about the girl. What’s her name? how old is she? Does she have a boyfriend? I just told her that I wasn’t going to tell her anything. I felt a little sting in my chest, I ignored it and kept thinking if I was ever going to see her again. When we got home I rushed into the shower, and out of nowhere I felt that sting in my chest again. I started feeling bad that I lied to those boys about getting her number, but I was feeling twice as that because I was afraid I wasn’t going to see her again. I sat in the shower and cried but the water was washing the tears away so you couldn’t even tell that I was crying.
