Vader's Vacation
Born 1995, M, from O"Fallon Missouri, United StatesThe buzzing of his alarm clock was incredibly obnoxious this morning. The ringing echoed through the cold walls of his personal chambers. The hour was early, yet there was no indicator of what time it was. One was never aware of what time it was in space. The view panels only showed the endless expanse of space. Vader had found himself in more need of sleep as his daily pursuits had gone on. The constant chasing of the rebels had left him depleted. Chasing them from star system to star system had taken its toll on the Dark Lord. Yet today was the last day before he would be off. A long awaited vacation was just around the corner. He breathed a loud sigh, the respirator attached to his chest hummed and exhaled. Its mechanical innerworkings were keeping him alive for all of these years.
Vader had been in pursuit of the rebels for months now, chasing them from star system to star system. Tomorrow would be the first day of his vacation, and he had many things to prepare for his weeklong vacation to Naboo. It had been years since he had visited the calm planet, a time before he turned, a time before the empire. Crawling out from his sleeping chamber, Vader realized he could use a tan. The parts of his body that weren’t mechanical, (and they were few), were a ghostly white, the results of years in space. He was eager for the bright suns rays and the sandy beaches of Naboo. It had been the planet of his and Padme’s secret marriage, one of the greatest days of his life.
His arrival would be questionable, as Padme’s parents still resided on Naboo, and he had technically killed her. A warm welcome was not in store. His previous time spent on Naboo had always been rushed or busy, guarding politicians or escorting queens. This trip to Naboo would be calm and peaceful. I don’t even anticipate having to kill anyone either. That would be a nice change from his daily routines of storming rebel bases and choking incompetent imperial captains.
Getting out of bed was not a big issue. Robotic appendages did not get stiff in the morning. They were unsightly, and buzzed at times, but they kept his body alive. Years of pain and torment, yet his burned skin had returned to normal and was able to withstand some sunlight. Yet the true issue at hand would be finding some clothing to wear for the occasion. His suit was always the same, and for this vacation he wanted to switch it up a bit. The black robes and armor would heat up quickly under the warm sun of Naboo. Cooking himself in a suit of armor did not sound like the ideal vacation for the Dark Lord.
Opening the wardrobe, he realized it was empty except for his armor.
“Blast it.”
The Star Destroyer did not have anything besides Imperial uniforms and stormtrooper armor.
“I’ll have to make a pit stop at a local market and pick up some trunks and a white tee.”
He put on his regular old armor, and closed the wardrobe. Time to go and check out the bridge.
An intercom buzzed in from the ceiling. “Lord Vader! We have located the rebel base on Dantooine. The emperor has ordered you to lead the assault.”
“Looks like the swim trunks will have to wait,” he said with a sigh.
Vader had to resign from his vacation ideas, and pursue the rebels. Duty always came before play when you were an Imperial, intent on crushing the rebellion. If his attempt to thwart them was successful, then his upcoming vacation would be far longer than his week stay at Naboo would have been. Even in the slightest of times, work always comes before play.
