“Phew! I’m so tired. Do you mind if I rest for a moment on your shoulder?” asked the small crow.
“Uhhhh, no! I don’t want your kooties!” screamed the scarecrow.
The small crow began to sniffle. “Please, sir? I can’t find my mom and dad. We got caught up in a sandstorm on our trip to texas for the winter.”
Rolling his eyes the scarecrow snobbily said, “Of course not, so don't put your dirty feathers on me.”
Night soon rolls around quickly, and the temperature drops fast. Still nowhere for the little bird to sleep.
Shivering and crying the little crow asks the scarecrow again, ”May I please use some of your straw to keep me warm? I cannot live out in the cold with no protection. I have no mommy and daddy and I am all alone. Will you please help me?”
The scarecrow crosses its arms and turns his head ignoring the baby crow.
“Please Mr., you're all I have right now.” said the crow.
Having some heart the scarecrow willingly said “Baby bird, you can snuggle in the opening of my buttoned up shirt.”
The baby bird was so very shocked and happy that the scarecrow is allowing him to stay warm.
“I can’t fly” sadly said the baby crow. “My wings are too cold to move, I can't fly high enough off the ground.”
Not wanting to help, but helping anyway, the scarecrow leaned over and picked up the crow and said, “You may stay as long as you would like little crow.”
