The Beginning of the End
Born 1996, M, from Missouri, United StatesThe scientists were baffled by their accomplishment. They made unicorns by altering the genetics of a deer. “I never expected it to work,” said one of the newer scientists.
“Of course it worked; we’re the smartest geneticists in the world,” replied one of the older scientist. He then continued, “I’m just wondering what happened to the scraps of DNA; I haven't seen them yet.” They all looked around and shrugged and left the laboratory.
After they left, the mutation machine turned on and started spitting out disgusting hideous hybrids of random assorted creatures. A lot of the creatures that came out of the machine were gruesome and looked like slime balls. Some had no brain or jaw, others had no heart. Some were even spawned without any bones or muscles. The spawns were abominations. However, the ones that didn’t die off right as they were born had everything needed to be the perfect, most graceful killing machine. They had a demon’s horn (some had one, some had two, and so on; the most that one had was five, a wolf’s head, gorilla arms and upper body, a deer’s hind legs, wings large enough to carry its heavy body off the ground and soar through the sky, and fish-like gills, dorsal fin, and tail. they could and would hunt everywhere. To help with that, they had a thirst for anything that moves and has a heart beat. The creatures started killing off all of the unicorns and left nothing. Everything was devoured from organs to bones. The crunching of the bones were so loud they could be heard miles away. The beasts dug through every last unicorn and in the end nothing was left, not even a strand of the unicorn’s long glorious mane
The scientists returned during the slaughter and quickly ran inside the building. Though, only a few of them made it in. The rest were quickly picked off by the strange creatures. The scientist needed a name for them so they could warn the people with some sort of way instead of just “creatures,” so they worked on figuring one out. They were coming up with names and some that came up were: wreesh, earforolf, or Robert.
Suddenly they heard a crash and they knew the beasts were inside the building and they had to act quick. The main scientist called the Pentagon and told them a new creature was accidentally created and it was on a rampage. They gave them the description and told them to call it Earforolf. As soon as he hung up the receiver, an Earforolf busted into their room and started slaughtering everyone. The main scientist who was in the room, however, knew of a secret passage and escaped before the creatures could get him. The scientist quickly made his way out of the area before he was caught and went into hiding.
After a few hours had passed a hunter, which was in an area 20 miles away from the laboratory and was trying to hunt for deer. There were very few left, due to the scientist taking them, but the ones that remained were huge and worth the wait. After a while the hunter then found the perfect deer. He scoped in on it and was about to make the shot when there was a flash of grey that appeared and the deer was gone. He scanned the area to try and find it, but, when he did, he saw it being devoured by a strange creature. The creature had all of the same characteristics as the creature he had just heard about on his pocket radio. It had a wolf’s head, a gorilla's arms and upper body, a deer’s hind legs and lower body, wings, a horn, and various fish appendages that included a tail, gills, and a dorsal fin. The creature left nothing of the deer. It was like it never existed so the hunter decided to kill the creature.
He breathed and whispered to himself, “Just stay calm and take the shot.” To his surprise the creature heard him and looked straight in his direction. It looked through his scope and through his gaze as if it were staring into his consciousness. He sat there staring and realized he needed to take a shot. He whispered, “One, two, three,” then he took the shot.
The sound of the bullet hitting the creature’s head was louder then the gunshot itself. It made a booming sound that echoed all around the woods and the hunter flinched. He finally regained his self control and went to look down his sights again to see if he killed it. To his surprise the creature was right in front of him staring at him. There were no marks besides for a few missing hairs where the hunter just shot it.
He had to think on his feet. He quickly whacked the creature with the butt of his gun and ran. He heard the roaring of the creature and the leaves behind him shaking. He knew the creature was catching up to him. He quickly grabbed for his truck door, swung it open, hopped in, and took off before he could get the door shut. The creature tried lunging at him but was only able to grab onto the open door and tore it off. The hunter looked in his rear view mirror to see the beast rolling on the road and coming to a stop in the ditch. He just shook his head and went home.
The hunter finally reached his house and walked in to greet his wife and son. His son asked, “Daddy! Daddy! Did you bring back a big deer?!?!?!?”
The hunter replied in a calm voice and answered, “Sadly, no, Kyle. Next time I’ll bring home the biggest meatiest deer in the world.”
His boy replied, “Okay, Daddy,” and walked upstairs to his room.
“Honey, are you okay? You seem spacey,” asked his wife.
He replied, “Ya, I’m fine. It’s just those scientist keep affecting my hunting.”
“I know, I know, but I hear they’re done now, so hopefully deer will return to our small town soon.”
“Hopefully.” He looked at his wife and then said, “It’s getting late. We need to get some sleep.” She nooded and they headed upstairs to bed.
The scientist was able to make it to an airport and he sat in his car taking a few breaths to calm down. Then, out of nowhere, his car rattled and flipped on it’s side. He look up and saw three of the Earforlofs standing outside his car. He tried yelling for help but everyone was staying away from his car, making a circle around it. The largest Earforlof walked up to his car and tore off the hood. It then threw it towards the crowd and everyone started screaming and running away. The two smaller ones chased after them and slaughtered half of the people. The ones that escaped though were either mentally crippled or missing a few body parts.
The scientist sat there, shaking, pleading, “Please please leave me alone! I promise I wont kill any of you.” The beast just roared, then threw his hand down at the scientist, picked him up, tore off his head using its mighty jaws. It was apparent these beasts either weren’t able to be reasoned with or didn't understand human languages. The three Earforlofs ran back into the city and started slaughtering anyone who dared come out their homes. After a few hours they got full and left for the woods.
The hunter heard growling coming from outside his house. It was two o’clock and he still hadn’t got any sleep. He thought it was just his paranoia and that there was nothing there but the growling got louder. He quietly got out of bed to look out the window but saw nothing. He whispered to himself, “It’s nothing,” and went back to bed. As soon as he got in bed, he heard crashing on the front door. He jolted right back up and stared out the bedroom door. He knew exactly what was here.
His wife reached out and grabbed his shoulder. He jumped and said, “Kathleen, don’t do that! You almost gave me a heart attack.”
She replied, “What is at our front door?”
He looked at her and said, “I don’t know, but go grab Kyle and head downstairs. I’ll be down in a second.” He led his wife out the room then hurried back in to grab as many weapons as he could. He grabbed two of his hunting knifes, a .22 caliber rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun, and his grandpa’s .44 revolver. He ran downstairs right as he heard his front door crash in and he hurried to the basement. He barricaded the door to the stairs with everything not nailed to the ground.
He and his family sat in the corner, just waiting. Suddenly he heard the beast slam up against the upstairs door to the basement with ease, so he told his family, “Stand by the door, and when he busts through run as fast as possible upstairs, take the truck, and leave. I will distract him.”
His wife was about to say no, but he stopped her and pushed them by the door. The beast started slamming the door and everything moved. It hit it again, then everything flew out and, in the excitement, Kathleen and Kyle ran upstairs. He heard the car start and drive off and he knew they were safe. All he had to do now was kill the beast.
The beast charged at him and he shot it with his shotgun. The force of the blast sent the beast off in a different direction and stunned it. The beast regained consciousness and charged the hunter again, this time with the horn pointed at him. The hunter charged the beast and slipped under it, took his grandpa’s pistol and shot its chest. The bullet ricocheted into his arm and he went blind from pain. He tried to regain control as quick as possible and charged the beast again, this time with the knife. He took the knife and jabbed into into the neck.
This worked. The knife dug deep into the neck and the hunter knew he found the kill spot. He took out his grandpa’s pistol again and was about to shoot when another one of the beasts charged into the house. It knocked him to the ground and put him in shock. He tried to pick up the pistol again but found that he lacked the energy to lift it all the way. He looked down and all he saw was a pool of blood coming from his side. He tried his hardest and pointed the gun at the injured beast and took the shot. The beast fell and laid cold on the ground. He quietly congratulated himself and went to point the gun at the new beast but it was gone. He looked around and felt a gust of wind. He looked up and the beast, weighing at least three tons, had lifted itself into the air. He looked in astonishment and that was the last thing he saw. The beast charged him from the air, smashed his skull into the wall and devoured the his raw dripping carcass. The beast then picked up the dead creature's body and carried it out to the woods. It then ate its fallen brothers carcass. The only difference was it ate it slower and with a more satisfied look on its monstrous face.
