Till we meet again
Born 1998, F, from TUGUEGARAO CITY, PhilippinesWHERE IT ALL STARTED
I woke up with the sun's radiant light passing through my window. A new day, which means, a brand new hope. In this same room...same house... and same town where our family have been spending almost five years now.
Today, nothing new. What I see in this room are just things that haven't changed. The book shelf is still beside my bed, the painting I received from my dad on my fifteenth birthday is still hanging on the wall. Just that. As usual. Of course, except that it's the release of the latest book of my favorite author =)
When the hands of the clock showed 10:00, I grabbed my bag and rushed to the bookstore, which is, luckily, only a walking-distance from our house.
At the bookstore...
I'm about to go pay the book at the cashier when suddenly, a small envelope dropped from the part where I got the book. I was mystified when I saw the words written on the small paper:
'TIL WE MEET AGAIN. =)
Weird.
A STRANGE COINCIDENCE
Not knowing what to do, I just decided to bring the small paper with me. And the moment I got home, I ran into my room and put it inside the drawer of the cabinet beside my bed. That night. I can't force myself to sleep. I kept thinking about that small paper and the mysterious person who crazily left that note in the bookstore. Ugh! I hate it when you don't want to or just can't forget about something because of curiosity!
The next morning, I got up early because it's the first day of my summer dance class. When I arrived at the studio, I suddenly felt lost. I don't know anyone there. It's like I entered a world wherein everybody's a complete stranger. Anyway, I just came on time. Our instructor showed us some parts of the new choreography. During our water break, someone approached me. A taller-than-me guy with those beautiful blue eyes, cool blond hair and irresistable smile. Well, I didn't notice him a while ago. "Can I sit beside you?", he asked. "Sure",I replied with a natural smile. The whole duration of the water break, we've known things about each other, not noticing the time pass by and that everyone's giving us a what's-going-on-between-the-two-of-them expression. That made the both of us laugh a little, then went back to the reality-practicing the new steps of the routine.
After the tiring first session, I'm about to walk through the door when I heard someone calling my name from behind. I stood right there and waited for him. "May I walk you home?",he asked me. "Uhmm,no,It's okay. I'm fine.", I said. With that, I went alone and after minutes of walking, I got that feeling that somebody is following me. But everytime I looked behind, there's no one. The moment I entered our house, I immediately went behind the closed door and secretly peeked outside through the window. What I saw outside susprised me, leaving my face an is-this-true-or-am-I-only-imagining look.
LOOKING FOR SIGNS
Second day of dance class. Three days to go, and it will be over again and that means I have to wait until next summer again for my final dance class, because, yeah, I've started attending different dance classes three years ago, and I think I have already enough knowledge about dancing, so it has to end. Some things don't really need to go on forever. There should and will always be an end for everything.
As usual,Mr. Nice Guy and I had the chance to talk again. And again in the following days. it's just until the fourth day that he confirmed to me he's the guy who lives next door. Our neighbor,of course. And since the afternoon of that day, we walked home together. That night also, i realized that I'm starting to like him. I mean, he's been nice to me, he's always there beside me during the used-to-be-lonely water breaks. He won't leave me until he's sure I'm fine and I think meeting him is one of the most amazing events in my life.
The next morning-yes,it's the last day of the dance class-,I moved quickly because I'm really excited to see him today. I went directly to the studio and found out I was too early for the class. As I was entering the studio, I noticed a note posted on the door saying: 'TIL WE MEET AGAIN. That statement again...I already forgot about it, and now here's another one again...Anyway, things happened today the opposite of what I've expected. Mr. Nice Guy didn't attend the session today and when I got home, the house next to us was, I think locked,as if nobody lives there anymore.
SOME THINGS HAVE TO END
I rushed into my room and immediately looked for the small paper from the bookstore, in the drawer of my bed-side cabinet. Such a relief when I found it. I put it beside the note I got from the dance studio and compared the two. Well, yeah,I'm right. The same letterings, the same ink of ballpen, the same kind of paper, and the same handwriting. So strange.
Since then, I assumed that the person who left the small paper on the bookstore is actually the person who left the note on the door, and might as well be the Mr. Nice Guy I've known, who used to live next door. It's like a midsummer night's dream. Everything happened so perfectly and in just a blink of an eye, it all vanished.
THE TRUTH ABOUT IT ALL
Saturday. Another start, another morning full of hope. I started the day thanking God for giving me another day to enjoy life and for letting me have a beautiful sleep. I went downstairs to see what's ready for breakfast. But, I realized I'm not yet ready to eat, so I decided to go outside to have a breath of fresh air and noticed that the house next to us is still empty...But, I thought I just saw two people moving in yesterday! Definitely strange.
After half an hour, my mom arrived from the market and asked me, "How's your sleep, dear?" And then, suddenly I managed to tell her, "It's okay. I had a very wonderful dream, Mom." So, yeah, al happened so fast and the moment I opened my eyes this morning, everything changed. It was a midsummer night's dream. A very exciting one. And it doesn't deserve to be forgotten, because for the first time in my entire life, I believe that that was not just a dream. For me, it really happened.
"Mom? May I just go to the bookstore for a while?" "Sure, dear. Just be sure to be back before lunch. I'll be cooking your favorite food." "Yeah, I promise."
When I arrived at the bookstore,I noticed only a fw people there. Well, definitely, because it's that early yet. I went directly to the shelf where the book I'm going to buy stays. When I found it, i checked every part of it and a small colored paper dropped from the exact place where I got it. What is written on it goes like this: EVERYTHING'S PERFECT. JUST LIKE A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. I WISH IT HAD BEEN LONGER. I WISH IT HAD BEEN FOREVER. I WISH. AND I CAN'T WAIT 'TIL WE MEET AGAIN =)
I was stunned. Well, actually, I don't know why and how. It's just so strange. Maybe it's because of that small paper in my weird dream. I brought the nte with me in the counter and paid for it and the book. It's just until the moment I was going out of the bookstore that I noticed the guy next to me in the line at the counter. He has that beautiful blue eyes, cool blond hair, and when he smiled at me, it's just that irresistable.
